The whole "PC" has been an ambiguous term for a long time. When I was in University, I bought my first computer (A Pentium 100). The computer lab at the university was a lab full of Macintosh PowerPC's.
Someone asked me if I had a PC. I didn't know how to answer which one was a PC?
Admittedly, I was pretty clueless about computer's at the time.
[Edit]I'm a backer, I sure hope Linux support happens. They had a Linux version on the Steam Early Access, didn't they?[/Edit]

Done! Opus Magnum for $15 is worth it. The rest of the games (and the $2 as a monthly subscriber) are just a bonus.
Life is Strange 2 confirmed to be coming to Linux in 2019 from Feral Interactive

This. Now that they've announced it, I won't buy it until Feral gets the money. It's really in their best interest to announce it as soon as possible.

Quoting: chepatiFinally, a sensible approach to announcing future porting plans by Feral. There are games that I am eager to play upon release, even if it means booting into Windows. However, if I knew the game was to be ported native to linux, I would delay my purchase so I can order it directly from the porting studio and let them keep all the money.
I find these "teasers" immature and childish. While they try to be cute, they may lose sales just because people have no idea a game they want is about to be ported.
As soon as they finalize the legal paperwork of acquiring the porting rights, just say so. Don't play guessing games.
Sorry for the rant.
I will now delay my Life is Strange 2 purchase so I can order it directly from Feral.

Egosoft to launch X4: Foundations on November 30th, hopefully with a Linux beta build

Look who wants the moon! :D
Credit to Egosoft - they kept working on X3, and it's a fun game now.

Linux hardware vendor System76 has begun teasing their new 'open-source computer'

Unless things have changed recently, System76 isn't a manufacturer. The sell System76 branded Clevo/Sager laptops.
[Edit]I guess I'm ignoring the desktop segment. But then, I'm not sure that screwing parts into a case makes them a manufacturer there either.[/Edit]

Quoting: TheSyldatQuoting: appetrosyanWell, AMD isn't all roses, and Intel hardly does less than AMD in the OpenSource arena. I think it has more to do with anti-monopoly on the Laptop market, but even that ignores the x86 monopoly on Laptops and above.Honestly this is wishfull thinking to think that the vast breadth of applications would be ported to a new architecture for a better or for worse a mass scale architecture migration would require some real downtime for just about everybody. I'm not saying it won't happen. But in the mean time the most realistic approach is to do what System 76 has been doing being a manufacturer and slowly but surely pushing the envelope and showing x86 manufacturers that it is in the end in their best interest to simply just open the platform so that roadblocks stop being thrown at them.
If there are alternative architectures to x86 (which is closed-source BTW), and a decent Graphics chip architecture manufactured by a different company, I'd rather go with that, even if that means last era performance, and very few binary packages. Xonotic, 0AD and a bunch more will be ported quickly, SDL ports can be modified to work, and I'm sure if Linux has an official architecture with official hardware support, Wine will have builds too.

Except that they don't make they're own hardware (or at least they haven't). They're dependent on their supplier.
I agree though. I bought a new laptop recently, and I wanted to buy a System76, but I wanted AMD, so I don't have a System76.

Quoting: stankalovichI want to believe, but its probably going to be all Intel and Nvidia and really just going to be a marketing gimmick. If they really cared they would've made an AMD based product by now.

Then don't announce anything until the NDA expires.
I agree with Comandante Ñoñardo, at this point in time, it seems a bit silly to start these guessing games.

Quoting: jensQuoting: Comandante ÑoñardoWith Proton doing a good job for the gaming on Linux, Feral really should STOP with these silly things and just announce the games.
As far as I know they announce as soon as they are allowed to. You know what an NDA is?
On-topic: F1 2018, Life is Strange2, Hitman 2 or Shadow of the Tomb Raider would fit with Feral's history, though no clue from the hints.
