I got a copy myself last week and I think it's fun. The reasons I got it were this
- Full Controller support for Big Picture
- Major Name Title
- The Alternate Environment Levels were really smart and I love them
- Multiplayer is a ruckus
I plan on building or buying a Steam Machine other than my current i7-6700k Mini ITX build with SteamOS at some point. Hopefully the RX 480 is amazingly good, the open driver will be a killer thing.

I'll be surprised if they don't raise 1 million, and I won't be shocked if they raise 2 million.
System Shock 2 remains in my top 5 games of all time, the story is amazing, even my Linux rig is named Citadel, I can't wait - but yeah no I'm not buying if it's not on Linux.

You may be tempered by the cold realities of _life experience_ but don't let that take your joy away - look at the huge success Linux has had as a platform in the last couple years partially due to people baiting developers into promising "Linux Support".
Every one us us has made a impact by all our actions to help create a lightning rod and it's working. GOL has served as a gaming hub to centralize and perpetuate excitement, and we've started the avalanche.
25% of Steam Games on Linux or 2,500 games is an amazing accomplishment. If you could do one thing to help the future, a worthy cause would be protecting them from closed software systems (not applications) destined to lead to dystopia, greed and corporations forcing users to play their game with their rules their way.
We don't even have to do the heavy lifting and write kernel code, allz we gotta do is play games on Linux, buy them to infuse money into the market, and cause a rukkus drawing attention to how awesome our platform is because our games will run quite probably forever. No N64 cartridge not working on GameCube, no Wii Rom Downloads not transferring to Wii U or whatever... If you buy it on Linux you can use it quite probably forever and with whatever controller your <3 desires -PS3, PS4, X360, XBONE, Wii, etc..
Special thanks for Windows 8 and Windows 10 for doing everything wrong possible to wake up their users to look for other options.

Quoting: qchtoI will keep an eye on this game and definitely buy it the day it releases on Linux, but I have seen enough kickstarters to understand that:
Linux as a stretch goal = Linux as an afterthought = Very unlikely day-1 release (or no release nor refund option at all)
Sorry if I sound cynical, but this has been my experience so far with most projects "using linux as bait" I decided to support (MN9 being the latest example), so I'm out.. That said, I'll be glad to be proven wrong.

This game popped up on my radar because the voice actor for Zero is Cr1tikal, the penguinz0 master himself.

You should get the official list of games on Linux and create a wallpaper including the name of all 2,500 and then do a overlay of a yellow penguin face on the ASCII so alls you see is Tux with game names in his form.
Oh and for others out there I found GOL uses the Ubuntu Font.
Also the colors:
Light Blue #001E2C
Dark Blue #006EA1
Grey #222222
You can get more colors using GColor3

Quoting: fbtI went through the horrible ordeal of dealing with the HTML email GOL has sent me to post this masterpiece:

Thank you for your compliment, I just wanted to make something and put it out there that would improve Linux Gaming's persona.
It's my understanding that after a work is modified beyond a certain point it becomes a derivative work, thus each included image is not in its original form and subjugated to the same limitations for use similar to how anyone can take I think up to 15 second sound clip from a song and include it in their derivative work with no obligation (thus the entire techno genre).
I even considered doing a color mask over all the letters to make it more monochromatic however I love the personality of the color, and the emotionally charged statement to the world "Hey guys, Linux has AAA games!" that's the message I wanted to make.
If you still feel that way I'm sure I could do a rendition entirely from fan art, I'm not sure if it would strike the same emotional cord, in either case my main purpose was accomplished by creating something cool and sharing it with my friends :)
Say - give me the name of 6 different games (I would recommend a Variety of Genres and some AAA) and I'll try on some art under the CC to see if it's hot or not.

Quoting: CreakQuoting: liamdaweI thought so as well. By seeing the other wallpapers with small games screenshots, I wasn't sure if you accepted "fair use" or not ;)Quoting: ElectricPrismHere's my entry - I edited my post on page 1 to include it aswell - it's 4k so it should scale to 1080p and 1440p well. While I think it is very cool, I wouldn't realistically be able to use it due to the inclusion of art from games. It's a big grey area when it comes to such things. Very cool design though and I'm sure others would love to use it!

Same goes for ~2 others I saw earlier, I can't use art directly from games (unless they have a clear license to expressly allow it somewhere).
But I admit this wallpaper is gorgeous :D

AMD will be hosting a reddit 'ask me anything' and giving away 14 RX 480 graphics cards
27 June 2016 at 9:23 pm UTC
Any RX 480 owner on Arch can simply install MESA GIT from their CLI like so:
yaourt -S mesa-git lib32-mesa-git
I would be surprised if 7 days elapsed and Arch users didn't create a cusom AUR PKGBUILD specifically including the AMD Patches.
Arch Users are notorious for having the newest shit the quickest out of anyone.
Alls a person will have to do is run the modified kernel for about a month until the patches enter mainline and are common.
Ive used mesa-git, as well as mesa-vulkan-intel-git and I can't remember any problems running from GIT.
AMD may be creating the solution of "not breaking X11" that Ubuntu tried to create by having "Mir Display Server" directly inhouse.
I hope Phoronix test results are as exciting as they're hyping up.

Quoting: ShmerlCurrently Mesa and amgdpu seem to be not ready for RX 480 support in Debian testing. I wonder if they'll get in shape soon. Building mesa from source or figuring out how to make dkms module for amdgpu might be fun, but it's not something I particularly want to spend time on and would prefer a ready solution for it.

In the case of Wii / GC, etc... I would just reccomend using the GC or Wii DVD if you have a DVD drive and are worried about not knowing.
