I'm the guy who predicted Deckard when Steam Deck launched simply using logical observance, deduction, and considering the hardware achievements of Valve. Steam Link -> Steam Controller -> Steam VR Controllers -> Index VR Headset -> Steam Deck ... Deckard.
I agree with @mad_mesa ^^^ my best guess is that it's a Steam Deck Episode I ;P Steam Deck Episode II or maybe Steam Deck 1.5.
Valve was very cautious making Steam Deck and wasn't even sure how popular or much of a market it would draw. I think they are pleasantly surprised, hardware contracts are probably expiring and the available chips on the market may be changing -- and they may be keen to do some minor hardware upgrades.
Prediction:
A. They will do away with the glossy screen entirely -- and go to Etched Glass.
B. They will upgrade the joysticks to be more wear resistant
C. Bigger Battery / Better battery life.
D. They might bump the resolution to 1920x1200 (Although I have no personal problem with the 1280x800.
E. OLED screen to conserve more power and for brighter use in daytime spaces (bus stop, etc...)
F. Thinner screen bezel. (that black boxy border around the screen)
G. Slightly smaller size (Similar to how the original Xbox had those big controllers at first and then the next iteration was more refined and slightly smaller)
H. Next Bump up of the CPU/GPU -- it would most likely be very similar.
I. More RAM.
J. More accurate touch screen.
K. And obviously -- better Wifi Module (Steam Deck v1 Wifi Module doesnt play nice with all routers and was a PITA requiring reflashing from recovery4.img and on all my 5 decks)
L. Oh, and of course all the NVME would get bumped up to the faster speed, 64bg would be replaced by 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB options (as 1TB 2230 NVME is a thing now, technically 2TB is aswell, however they usually skip a generation of top tech to keep costs affordable.)
I would really be curious to see them shrink it by 10% or 15%.
It would be a total banger too if as part of their new WIFI they made it possible to do 4-8 player LAN over WIFI without a router with 1 of the decks acting as the "hot-spot".
I could EASILY see Steam Deck parties where PC gamers get together and LAN in person on the couch, this is a space that is untapped and dripping with maple syrup.
Oh and lastly, improved CPU/GPU cooling.

Considering this: https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2023/09/linux-continues-rising-above-3-desktop-user-share-on-statcounter/
I'd say I'm still cautiously optimistic.
Considering the improvements to WINE/PROTON, DXVK over the last few years I'd say the win32 wall has come down pretty well.
As long as we keep gaining share, and even have people Experience Linux I'd call that winning.

Quoting: EikeTo all those saying that Proton will lead to more native ports one day by raising the Linux user percentage...
It's not only that most Linux users stopped asking for ports.
Ten years ago, we had Windows users actively speaking out against Linux ports.
Quoting: quotI wish companies would start announcing official Proton support. I honestly would trust the stability of that more than most native Linux builds.
Nowadays, we got Linux users actively speaking out against Linux ports.
That's why I'm pessimistic.

As somebody who considers themselves the target audience.
Seeing the territories in 2D in literal 3D space at time index 0:40 is beyond quirky or a idiosyncrasy -- it's a hangup for me.
I mean. Star Trek has been dead to me for a while now.. especially after the "ActionMan" movies painted Picard as a psychopathic killer instead of a wise diplomat sage.

I blame Rick Berman for this.
Star Trek has been action schlock for a while now.
I guess AI/Neural Networks are our only hope or restoring it to its pristine original form about showing moral conundrums and navigating ethically complex situations objectively.

Italian Spiderman is ambushed by two of his arch-nemesis Captain Maximus' female evil henchmen while riding a surfboard. Beaten to his knees by aquatic batons, under duress Italian Spiderman blows on his Magic Conch Shell and cries out in Spanish "I summon penguiniiiiiiiii", after-which a swarm of what appears to be gentoo penguins amass. In the next scene by way of literal poor production value and expert comedy the gentoo penguins are transformed into dozens of small plastic penguins who are thrown in a an endless stream at the female henchmen granting Italian Spiderman relief and deliverance from his ambushers.
;P That was a fun write -- someday I'm going to have to have AI upscale the video or make Lunix Gamer memes out of it.

I've heard claims that this game may be the best RPG ever made, and my friends who beat all the old Final Fantasy games sound like they are starting to concur.

I wonder if they would be willing to publish their source if they are quitting.
If I had to guess based on current events and their veiled response I would guess interfamily death & illness have shaken enough of them up to take a toll.
Hats off to them for their work, and condolences for whatever hardships they are navigating.

I was going to buy Resident Evil 4 ... until I learned it had Denuvo (A single player game with DRM WTF)
Hey, they don't want my $59.99 -- that's their loss.
In the interest of negotiation and fairness I usually am willing to walk back my standards some. But not this time. I'm tired of "buying" things and "not owning them" and I'm tired of being a lawful customer only to get punished with DRM by hostile companies.
If they want to Play the DRM Game out of paranoia -- that's fine -- I will simply spend my money other places.
And that's why I've been buying gift copies of Baldur's Gate 3 -- we simply can't let this hellscape become the new normal. We deserve better than this. A good game will last decades. A bad game is sophistry and bad forever.

QuoteThankfully, so far, Denuvo hasn't actually caused all that many issues for Linux desktop and Steam Deck gamers, since games protected by it work in Proton.

Yeah about that ...
The CCP government recently siphoned all the money out of Tencent (6m-1y) (Which they can do because corporations in china are part of the government by law.)
Again, the problem with paying nothing for something -- is that it creates disparity -- or actual modern day slavery.
Disparity occurs when deals are not fair. Ethically, really bad things happen when one party wins too much at the other's expense. (In this case my empathy is with the foreign workers and employees who just want a living wage.)
Edit: This is really just communism 101 -- drop prices to attempt to drive competition out of business, power companies, baby formula / whatever -- and then once you have a monopoly raise prices to unfair levels. The idea of the state subsidizing failure also comes to mind -- like when a company makes airplanes that have aeronautic defects that cause them to crash -- and the state shows up to pay to keep the company in business when they are on a collision course with bankruptcy.
Anything that is not worthy of staying in business -- and can be destroyed -- should be destroyed. The big players shouldn't be subsidized to continue to fail creating abusive relationships with customers and employees. If they can't make it -- survival of the fittest -- tough luck, they will be replaced with more worthy businesses.

Quoting: KlaasQuoting: ElectricPrismIf I was a publisher, my respect for EG would have just dropped -- nobody can stay in business working for free.Fortnite and Tencent can provide a lot of money. And EG saves a lot of money by relying on Steam for features – like Epic exclusive games with a Forum on Steam.
And it's not really completely free. It's a loss leader.
