You must be a mind reader XD. If this were square it would be Half-Life Alyx: Episode 1.5

I hope someone makes a 18+ mod for this game someday. It would feel Duke Nukem 3D Megaton.

I felt a lot of compassion for his situation as he was actively contracting to port so many games.
I hope he is pleasantly surprised with how everything has turned out and has made incremental adjustments to have joy. I am curious how he is doing too.
As ^ Said, Absolute Legend! All this FNA stuff too, very exciting as always.

could you reach out to Ethan to ask him about his thoughts? He was kinda sceptical/crtical of Proton and his future as a programmer back then.

Has this changed? What are his thoughts now?

Steam Deck launched on February 25, 2022, thinking about the timeline and massive success, It will be interesting to see what update interval Steam Deck goes with.
I think it's been great because developers have been more resource efficient targeting the Steam Deck which makes their games more available to more customers.
Games like Terraria, MineCraft, and StarDew Valley all have massive followings because they could run on potatos.
I am curious if they will go with a 3 year cycle or 4 year cycle and we will see something ~Feb 2025 or ~Feb 2026.
I wonder if they will use numerical versioning or follow Xbox -- will we see Steam Deck 2 and then after that Steam Deck 2 Episode 1 :P

I stopped giving them money. When 6 launched, from memory having criticism about the graphics downgrade 5 => 6 and even constructive feedback was not allowed.
I'm honestly not hyped. If in 2 years it has a steam rating of 95%+ I'll buy it on sale.
Also, I understand the concept of "Expansion Packs" but the way they do their DLC feels like their games are made using Agile methods and that v1.0 is barely even a proof of concept game.
From playing many other popular games, those "tweaks" deserve to be free Workshop content and not 9,99 or whatever.
I can't imagine how many nights and hours it would take to get good at these games with how long each game takes too. What 1-3 hours each?

Demos needs its own filter in the left hand menu filter.
Also, will there be ratings and reviews on Demos that __dont__ carry over to the released game to help measure public response? Or does that not make sense.
Also, I would like to optionally remove Demos from my account and couldn't find the button the other day -- maybe I am on Steam Client Beta and the button has gone *poof*

Scenarios like these make me curious what the tax deduction value is to donate to a museum. Like one a year, and whether that value would surpass what it could sell for on auction or the open market.
That's really cool! Small world.

Quoting: Joeg1484I used to live right behind them in Oakhurst Ca. on Victoria Ln with an old girlfriend that used to work there stuffing boxes with game disks and instructions LOL... I havent heard from her in years, but found out that her dad still had a closet full of those old games still in their original package LOL.
Proly worth allot of money these days :).

I would love to hear about the Caesar III series, also I see Half Life + HL Blue Shift and some Spyro Games. I know their logo as well as the Sega Genesis startup screen.
Edit: Speaking of documentaries, Highly recommend the HL Unforseen Consequences Documentary -- also the unreleased game Ravenholm documentary was really interesting too both by Noclip

Popular multiplayer code editor Zed gets a Linux release

To go along with @akselmo and @wvstolzing -- my experience was poor too.
I can't even launch it on Arch Linux & Sway.
I have 0 interest in "AI" in my editor -- that's just a buzz word like "The Cloud" where it means everything will be enshitified.
"Multiplayer"? What is "Multiplayer"? Like "Multi-user" -- it feels juvenile. old_man_yelling_at_clouds.jpg
To their credit I am very interested in that it is made in Rust.
Hit that nail on the head. I don't think the audience is me either -- I'm not a l33t teen coder looking to show off -- but to their credit maybe that is the strategic market to appeal to who knows SMS.
The GitHub = Git thing is absolutely daft, tonedeaf and ludicrous.
I'm cool with the JSON thing, probably because I haven't actually seen another configuration format that I feel is better than JSON is easy to parse with jq in scripts. I feel like JSON is Gen 2 of configuration formatting, and I can't wait to se what Gen 3 is. YAML?
Zed downloads NodeJS binary and npm packages from Internet without user’s consent #12589
LMAO. NGL that's pretty funny. What a mess.
I know this is a little judgemental and may be a bit premature as it will take time to see -- but they are reminding me of Manjaro a bit.
This bug precisely underscores why a lot of folk like to use old tried and true things instead of "The New Shiny".
Me personally, I don't have the time I used to have to delve into new software daily. The $99 I paid for Sublime Text already paid off in multiples due to time saved.
Atom Editor used to open waaaaayyyy to slowwww. Sublime was faster, and I could easily open 100 - 1,000 files or even a PHP Project with 10k files when I needed to a recursive Find & Replace.
I am willing to give Zed some slack, some good will (for now), while they get it together because they are new and interesting, but so far it seems like they are off to a cold start.
I will credit them with any innovations they coin if other editors copy them too. We'll see -- hopefully they are not full Manjaro.

Quoting: akselmoYou can luckily toggle off the AI bullshit from the settings but it being plastered everywhere really tells me who the audience is, and I don't think it's me. Also they seemed to equate Git with Github, because only Github services were supported.

Quoting: akselmoOn positive side though, it was very easy to get going with it and the config, while being editing json files (why??), was still alright experience.
