Steam 'Remote Play Together' is now in Beta, allowing local multiplayer games over the net

I tried it with a friend today, and we couldn't get it to work at all. :( Linux to Linux. Reading this, it kind of looks like only Linux to Windows works?

EDIT: Judging by comments on this article, and this Reddit thread, it seems to only work when hosted from Linux and connected to from Windows, and sound is not sent by default.

Looks fun. Surprised they haven't mentioned it in an Infamous Machine Kickstarter update.

Because silly juvenile humour is worse than violence and horror?

Yeah, I'd much rather have my own kids (6 and 9) see some silly penises running around and fighting than a lot of the stuff they're exposed to these days.

^ I know, right? :D

Seriously though, Astro Golf looks pretty nice, and extra cool that it's developed on Linux.

It's almost exactly the same game as my previous Linux Game Jam entry.

Can we maybe not be so dramatic? Some of us are old enough to remember that that’s how it was for the majority of video gaming’s existence. And books, DVDs, cars, etc. Sure it would be a disruptive change, but as long as it doesn’t open the door to duplication (piracy), the market can adapt. It might not be pretty for a while, but it won’t just die like that.

Doesn't have anything to do with socialism either. With socialism, developers would get a fair price for their labour, and consumers would be entitled to a copy, but no right to profit from it. If anything, socialism would be better for indie game developers, as it would allow them a stable and dependable income, but obviously much less lucrative for AAA publishers.

Looks like Beyond a Steel Sky, the sequel to the classic Beneath a Steel Sky is coming to Linux

Quoting: ShmerlWhat is the name of this style by the way (one in the trailer)? I.e. 3D, but with comic / drawing feel to it. Telltale like using it I think. Makes it easier to skip fancy graphics effects and focus on the story more.

I believe it's called cel shading: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cel_shading
That term was tossed around a lot while I was active in their community in the early days.

I'm also very excited to see the sequel come to Linux, since I've played the original game a bunch of times, since I first played it on the Amiga, and I love the atmosphere of the game. I'm almost certain that I played the GOG version, but I don't remember any voice acting. It must not have made a big impression.

Don't say that... bumblebee helped a lot in the past when there was no other solutions..

No? Bumblebee didn't help for anything. Prime was a better solution , at least it was reliable.

While Bumblebee was not.

Prime didn't become available until 2016 though, while Bumblebee has been around since at least 2011. For half a decade it was the only (good) option for utilizing dual graphics on Linux, and that's worth something. It was always a hassle to set up and tended to break with driver upgrades, so I'm glad there are better, official options now for those of us still stuck with Optimus laptops.

I've played a couple of hours of the beta version on Linux, and they've put a lot of effort into it, so I feel confident that we will indeed see a same day release.

I played this for a couple of hours yesterday on Itch.io and Steam (buying it on the former gives you a key to the latter), and found it wonderful. Lots of fun exploration and fetch quests, and the height building and unlocking of "jump pads" reminded me a little of Grow Home, which I also adored.
