GOL Asks Again: What Have You Been Playing Recently?

Everyone: Drop whatever you're playing now and go get the current Humble Flash Bundle! Yes, it only contains one Linux game, but it's definitely the best game* to come out this year!

*in my opinion

I completed Back to Bed yesterday. It's a pretty neat puzzle game with a great visual style, but it's a bit short and on the easy side. Still really liked it though, and I don't regret picking it up on release.

I've also played through Dynamite Jack that I got in a bundle ages ago. I'm tempted to call it a hidden gem, only it's more of a hidden passably good game that's good for 15 minute sessions here and there.

Still have to get through Portal 2, but I'm over halfway through and each level have become much more of a time investment, so it has been harder to pick up lately.

That's great news. :) Yeah, it was good to see so many other people contributing during this last week.

I've had it on Steam for a while but haven't played it yet. Not even sure why, other than that I keep confusing it with Super Hexagon, which I'm a lot less interested in.

Good point. Hard to think of many countries outside UK, the US and Canada that has more than a few Linux games. Poland is well represented though, with games like Anomaly: Warzone Earth, Painkiller: Hell & Damnation and The Witcher 2 (if that counts). There's also Dead Island that might come to Linux and kickstarted Superhot that's not out yet.

None of them really my kind of games but I really liked MouseCraft, which is also made by a Polish developer and there's Trauma. There are also a lot of HOG/casual puzzle adventure games from Artifex Mundi (extremely varying in quality) and the free and old (and not very good) Teen Agent if you count ScummVM games.

Canada is a good suggestion. Klei had their newest game Invisible Inc. out in Early Access a couple of days ago, but unfortunately a Linux version won't be available until closer to release.

Sweden might be a good choice too, with games like SteamWorld Dig, The Journey Down, Goat Simulator, Amnesia, Hotline Miami and more.

Quoting: DrMcCoyNot sure I trust someone who can't even pronounce Jotun correctly ;)

Hehe, yeah. ;)

I was a bit on the fence but in the end I decided to back it despite Linux only being a stretch goal. I hope it doesn't turn out to be another one of those campaigns where the Linux version comes 6 months later if at all.

If anyone's interested Jotun just reached its Linux stretch goal with 10 hours to go of the campaign.

Very nice article. :) I've played Serena and the two released chapters of Reversion. The former is very interesting both in how it manages to do so much with only a single room and because of the history behind its name.

Probably not on the top of your list but Norway is starting to get noticed on the indie scene lately with popular games like Teslagrad, Among the Sleep and Savant-Ascent out and Dreamfall: Chapters, Earthlock: Festival of Magic and Shiftlings in production. The company behind Shiftlings is also making Oliver & Spike: Dimension Jumpers, which looks awesome, but it's primarily intended for consoles and there hasn't been any word on Linux support yet.
