DXVK for Direct3D 11 over Vulkan in Wine has a new 0.60 release

Quoting: MohandevirAs long as there is an entity in charge of maintaining the build, just like Feral does, personnally, I'm fine with that.

Why do you need some entity to tell you "it's playable" if it's already playable without any entity?-) But in essence what's good is attention of developers to Linux market in general, that's about it. Other than that, you don't need any entities like Feral if you already can play the game. Especially if they would limit you in some way.

Because this is your personnal situation that is absolutely not viable for the mass market. Without official support, Linux gaming will stay a sub 1% marketshare platform and this is what we have to get out of.

Quoting: Whitewolfe80Damn witcher 3 is almost completely playable now, thats amazing and also a little worrying that devs are seeing this progress and just saying yup we dont even need to port it we can release a wine wrapper or just not bother and the community and the wine & dxvk teams will make it playable for those guys and ms will continue to rake in the licence fees for dx12.

Looking at it the other way... If (and there is a lot of them), as an example, GoG decides to use DXVK + Wine, wraps The Witcher 3 with home made hacks, get good performances out of it and put it's official support stamp on it... Is it that bad? As long as there is an entity in charge of maintaining the build, just like Feral does, personnally, I'm fine with that.

A small but nice update on Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation and Linux support

This:

"The nice thing about Linux is that it provides a fairly neutral platform from which you can then go to other platforms."

What does it means? The game is developped on Linux? If so, it should be well known in the industry. Ok, Ashes of the Singularity is not a perfect example, but am I wrong to think that it should make things easier when it comes to Linux ports too?

Want to play Track Mania Nations Forever on Linux using Wine? There's a snap for that

Quoting: libgradevHmmmm, Snaps + Wine + DXVK...

Witcher 3 on linux! Yes! Finally! :)

If they could find a way to stay legit with Steam, GoG or other online stores, that would be awesome! Some kind of specific launcher requesting our store credentials for validations, maybe?

Beep boop the Feral Interactive port radar has a UFO sighting for a new Linux port

Quoting: MohandevirIf that's the case, insta-buy for me. It just had the final update to remove lootboxes and add content. It seems like the perfect time for a Linux port:

While I would prefer to get ports the same days, there's some advantages in this late gratification...

Unfortunately, I guess that's what we have to deal with when we have a sub 1% marketshare... :(

Edit: It would be a great relief if it is Shadow of War. I was beginning to fear that WB had abandonned Linux... Obviously it must be easier for Feral to work with a final build than a still evolving game.

Paradise lost is like saying there's a knife in the game... Vague as possible. Good job Feral this one is really hard!

Shadow of War confirmed? Lol!

I am almost certain it is Shadow of War, several pages back I posted a youtube clip from Shadow of War of Balrog spawning from lava. Plus Sauron is in this game. Also, someone here mentioned Lucifer meaning "Light Bearer" in latin and Calimbrimbor is also the Bright Lord. I have really been looking forward to this game.

OpenGL to be deprecated in the next macOS release, could mean interesting things for Linux gaming
8 June 2018 at 8:17 pm UTC Likes: 1

Are all the "creative applications" companies going to rewrite their softwares for Metal? Am I wrong when I say that these are relying on OpenGL still? I must admit that my knowledge might be dated on the subject, but it seems like a bold move from Apple... Or they are just aiming to completely axe the MacBook line and eventually concentrate on their mobile division only (crazy rumor I read somewhere)...

Edit: At some point the walls of the garden are going to get so high that the sun won't be able to shed light on the apple tree and it will go barren. :)

Quoting: MohandevirThe last piece of hint is pretty awesome, but is Ninja Theory Linux friendly? Liam might be in a better position to answer that. From an outisder's point of view, it's hard to tell. It seems to be a small studio, on Steam at least, with about 3 games + DLCs (am I wrong?). None of them are on Linux yet. Maybe it's about to change though?

I think it would fit their "indie triple-A" attitude quite well.

You may be right. But there are indie studios that chose to ignore Linux, though. Unfortunately, they are not all Croteam... In fact, many of these indie "Linux-friendly" studios support Linux "inhouse". A question comes to my mind and I do not have a definitive answer to it... Did Feral ever ported an indie studio title before?

Edit: My interrogations are really at Feral's level. Hellblade would mean a change in their usual "business patern" which would be most welcome news but makes it a little less plausible, unfortunately.
