My top 2 is the same than yours with Metro Last Light and Metro 2033 close behind. This said, no Spec Ops: The Line? Great game too, imo. May be short but I really enjoyed the 3rd person combat mechanics.

EVERSPACE expansion 'Encounters' announced, sounds like it's going to be awesome

Quoting: LeopardI hope it performs well with GTX 1050.

GTX960 on an old i7-3770 here and it rocks at very high! The 1050 is in the same performance range and should not be a problem.

Edit: Tested it on an MSI Workstation with Quadro M2200 that should be performing under the 1050 and it was awesome too!

Quoting: stretch611As for a Half-Life 3 exclusive on Linux... it isn't going to happen. Valve is a corporation seeking profit. While the numbers of linux users is increasing, it is dwarfed by windows gamers. They will not annoy the majority of their market by making them wait even longer.

Half Life 3 isn't going to happen... End of discussion. Didn't I specify that HL3 is an example in my previous comment? I was just stating the fact that Steam Machines would have been much more successfull if Valve had released them with an exclusive game. I know the official position of Valve about exclusives. It was all hypothetical to show that if Steam Machines had been a success, all the issues about compatibilty and performances would have been taken care of a long time ago. Larger player base = Better support.

This said, there is a nuance to make: Steam Machines and SteamOS are 2 diffrent things. The failure of the Steam Machines doesn't mean that SteamOS is a failure. SteamOS still has a lot of potential. Like you said, it's an awesome tool to prevent Microsoft from doing something foolish. But yeah, Valve could put a lot more of it's weight behind it.

I've been spouting this out at people for so long, but they just keep saying "SteamOS is a failure" or "Valve dropped all support for it." Come on, we all know the 'Valve time'. The fact they already have a release based on Debian Stretch is amazing on how much resources they have dedicated to it. Steam Machines... well it's arguable how much of a failure they are since Dell did do a hardware refresh on them a while back. But I'm still not sure if that was just bleed down from them updating essentially the same system with Windows. I think all the other ones have been stopped for production.

But it kind of sounds like Ataribox (hope they change the name, please change it...) will be SteamOS-ish. So not sure what the deal is there though. My hopes are kind of meh on that...

I think Valve isn't really in the hardware business. While yes they created the Link and Controller, they're both simply physical accessories to Big Picture Mode. It's kind of the same case with SteamVR how anyone can make a headset that complies with the API, while Valve themselves don't manufacture the hardware.

Valve time... Yeah, so true. This is why we haven't seen the advertised UI overhaul yet and it's not Linux related. ;)

Quoting: tuubiWindows 10s is Microsoft's answer to ChromeOS. In essence it's the next Windows RT. A lightweight, stripped down Windows with very limited software compatibility and application base, enforced Bing etc. It's an example of a new platform instead of trying to close down an existing one. I certainly don't see it as a threat.

Atm, no, but Windows 10S will have the side effect of making people to integrate and use the Windows Store. Games may be found in the Windows store too... Why not use it on my gaming rig then? No need of Steam anymore.

It's not going to be an overnight change. Creating habits they call that? Think about the kids at school that will have their first experiences on computer on Win10S machines...

This said, I really hope that you are right, but do not underestimate Microsoft.

Edit: Problem with quote.

Quoting: stretch611(Microsoft's only problem is with anti-trust law; which is not likely to be enforced with the current administration, it doesn't mean it wouldn't be enforced with the next.)
You write like MS only cares about the US market. The truth is, this would face an immediate antitrust challenge in the EU. It's much harder to close an existing platform with a majority market share than get a new, closed platform out there. How do you expect them to enforce a single marketplace when they can't even legally require/enforce a single web browser?

Micorsoft Surface with Windows 10S. Their hardware, their OS. They will try to convince gamers to use the Xbox One X to stream to the Surface. That's Microsoft's vision of the future. Not sure it's going to happen but it's heading this way.

Aaargh! You're right! All is left is that it's both games then... :)

"O VAIN ILLUSION OF GLORY AND GRANDEUR"... Sounds like we could be talking about Columbia/Rapture here.
When you consider that Bioshock and Bioshock Inifinite are tightly intertwined...

If it's not Bioshock remastered but ROTR, Feral guys are really cruel! :)

Maybe both games?! Lol!

This was my thought as well. I would be happy if it were Bioshock or Tomb Raider. Not wanting another RTS. If it is Bioshock I will buy F1 2016 since I already own Bioshock Remastered (got it since I've owned the original from way back). If it is an RTS I'll have to pass. I already bought 2 RTS I'm not really interested in just to support Feral.

I'm on the oposite side. Already got RoTR when I bought my GTX960... I would prefer Bioshock. :)

Edit: Still, since there's no Tux on RoTR, I haven't played it yet, so...

I think it isn't out of reach in the case of a zen based apu, if the goal is to run games at medium settings like many actual consoles do.

But it's just speculation. IMO, the day Blizzard port it's game catalog to Linux is the day Linux gaming has won. It's more a dream than a possibility. :)

This said, hardware needs exclusives to sell. That's why Steam Machines failed. There was nothing you couldn't get by other means or on "the other OS"... Let's see what Atari has in store, this time...

The reason SteamOS didn't succeed isn't because of exclusives, it's because games ran worse PLUS lack of compatibility. You can have one or the other and people would go for it, but both is death.

Maybe but think of a Steam Machine launch with an Exclusive HL3 for SteamOS (just an example) and the swarm of players that would have come to the platform would have taken care of the issues you mentionned by itself. Bigger player base = Better support.
