Yep! Built with the engine from the company that vowed (and failed) to destroy Steam perceived "monopoly".
Thank you, but no thank you.

Instantly turned off. I mean I know this is a fangame, but anyhthing Half-Life not on Source feels so wrong.

EA / Respawn now block Apex Legends from running on Linux and Steam Deck

Exactly my tought, but it would require heavy hitting servers (meaning lots of investments in hardware for a gaming company) and good internet speed everywhere. This said, they could optimize their games for one set of hardware and one graphical preset, reducing development costs and debugging.
Still, it would be a pretty nice solution against cheating, imo.

Quoting: chickenb00This news is sad but expected. The devs know a route to close off some small portion of cheat engines, and that is denying Proton and Linux.
How soon until these MP games are entirely streamed -- you download a thin client which connects to a server, and all gameplay elements are streamed to your PC, MMO-style?
Then mandate controller input only, create some "reasonableness" check for number of inputs received in a given span of time... Eliminate cheat creators by locking down the game so that all you receive is video streamed to your device and your inputs are sent back. That's likely the future of gaming. Once Fortnite or Valorant decides to go down that road, everyone will follow.

GeForce Now or other streaming services got you covered for most of these games, if you want to play on Linux. On top of that, the anti-cheat is "server side", meaning on Nvidia's servers and not on your PC. One rootkit/spyware installation avoided.
Steam games will now need to fully disclose kernel-level anti-cheat on store pages

Now I'd like a store filter to filter out these games from my search results/propositions.

Somebody knows how to solve this? Since the update. when docked, I see the Steam Deck logo on my 4K TV and then I get "NO SIGNAL" from my Steam Deck LCD. I tried shutdown and restart and reboot. I changed my HDMI cable (that was working fine up until now). Nothing works. Is there a SteamOS option that I should turn off (CEC maybe)?
Edit 1: Got it. The automatic external screen resolution doesn't work with my TV. I need to set it manually to 1920x1080x60hz. The 3840x2160x60hz resolution is not recognized anymore. I must put the Steam Deck in External Display Safe Mode that makes my TV display Gamescope in 800p or something similar. After that, the max resolution that doesn't crash my display is 1080p.
Edit 2: Just had a flash, this morning... I replaced my JSAUX docking station with my old Ivoler one and put the settings back to automatic resolution detection. It boots just right. In my case, It seems the update induced a compatibility issue with the JSAUX 7in1 (HB0702) docking station.

Cheating has always been and will always be. "Someone will always make a better idiot".
That's one of the reasons I've never been attracted to online PvP games. This and the toxic communities that usually goes with these games. I much prefer local multiplayer with friends, on private servers, to any of these garbage setups. I have fond memories playing TF2 during an event, organized at my previous job, on our private server. 10 players in the same room, "politely" mocking each other, on top of that!
That's my point of view and I respect it.

Quoting: _MarsA shame, given that it's the only game I would really miss when I get rid of my Windows 10 installation after support runs out.
But honestly, I can't really blame them. After seeing the very pathetic state of Counter-Strike's attempt at an server "anti-cheat" from the biggest company pushing Linux gaming, it really doesn’t inspire much confidence.

Rhetorical question: Did it, at least, solved their cheating issues?
I'd be curious to know what Valve thinks about the situation, regarding the Steam Deck...
