AFAIK Ubisoft never removes Denuvo from their games unlike most other developers.

Good to know. They'll never get my money, then.

Swing and a miss, still not getting my money Ubisoft.

Yeah. Got burrned by Denuvo a couple of times. My new stance is to wait for an update where they remove it. It will just perform better, overall. I should have done that with Star Wars Jedi Survivor. That game's Denuvo integration was a great example of what not to do!

Now that's something I can get behind 100%. If Valve sold a controller that was more or less the Deck without screen I'd buy 3: 1 to use, 1 for multiplayer, and 1 for safe keeping.
There is an ongoing discussion on Reddit about such solution, so called Deck Controller. Many of us would prefer just a Steam Controller revival because each of those solutions has its upsides and downsides. For example, SC is arguably more comfortable and effective to use than Deck for power users like myself that focus on the touchpad. That said, I would be definitely willing to give Deck Controller a go as well!

Talking about the Steam Controller... I did some troubleshooting with my Steam Link hardware vs Steam link app on Nvidia Shield... I connected my 8bitdo Ultimate 2C with the 2.4ghz dongle, on the Steam Link hardware (works perfectly, even the rumble works)... I wanted to sync my SC via Bluetooth and pushed the wrong button combo (Steam + A)... My SC synced itself to the 8bitdo dongle and is working properly... Whaaaat?!

Sorry, not really on topic, but I had to share it.

And it's not a bad thing. Many devs are still making their games a good experience on the Steam Deck. There is always that dev that won't take the Steam Deck into account, once in a while, but there is so much choice, It's easy to forget about these games and play something else.

"If you don't care about me, you won't get my money".

After all, the goal of the Steam Deck was never to appeal to the High End market, it was to supply a stable base of development that will meet the widest range of players possible.

Quoting: pb
Quoting: hm11As far as i know, you still need the steam client to restore those backups

You don't need Steam client to restore if you just copy or tar a game's directory.

I have a pretty clear example of that: Witcher 3.
It's possible to launch the game by running it's original .exe file, in the Steam game folder, via Wine, and Steam doesn't launch and is not even aware of it. Ok, it's CDPR... Owner of GOG, but Steam won't prevent any devs of doing the same and that trick probably works on many games, already.

Maybe... One day... If I can muster enough willpower to finish RDR2... I must have installed this game 4 or 5 times, played a couple of hours then deleted it.

Even if I acknowledge the quality of this game, I always end up with a feeling of doing chores, when I try it. Too much management. Over complicated menus and inventory. For me, this is when realism breaks the fun.

"But it's not the game, it's me".

Eagerly waiting for the stable release. I'm not really familiar with these release cycles, but am I being "delusional" to think it might be soon?

Valve appear to be testing ARM64 and Android support for Steam on Linux

QuoteSo it would make a lot of sense for Valve to be working on a system like this to extend Proton support to ARM64 and get Android-based apps / games working as well.

It was Steam on Chromebooks that made me think Valve were likely funding FEX.

Tought about that too. There was no official release of Steam "Borealis" project. It seems the project is in Limbo, since Nvidia scrapped it's Chromebook initiative. Maybe it never got to the performance level they hoped for? Could Valve made the decision to switch to a native ChromeOS client?

This said, Nvidia also displayed an arm based rtx powered laptop, running some form of Arch, in the same period. Could it be that?
