Quoting: MohandevirIs it possible to install the GFN Chrome shortcut? How is it handled by the Steam Deck?

Edit: Meaning, if it was possible, I would have GFN and Stadia dedicated shortcuts (download browser app) directly in my Steam library. I would probably have a Deezer shortcut too... Is it possible?

Yes! Just add a new non-steam game to your library, select Google Chrome from the list like normal (this creates a second Chrome shortcut in Steam). Follow Liam's instructions then rename the shortcut and you're golden! The nice advantage to this is you can keep the original Chrome shortcut pristine.

I've been using this with GFN for about a week, it works great

Just found another method. It's a little more tricky, but I really like the full screen layout of the official "Nvidia webapp" by doing "install GeForce Now" in Chrome... I installed it in desktop mode and added it as a non steam game. Thing is, it won't work as is. You got to add the Google chrome standard launch options, found in Steam and change the ending part "@@u @@" with the "-app-id=" of the Geforce shortcut found in the "Application" tab, in the "Command" field (Desktop shortcut).

It works as intended, no chrome menus and all.

Quoting: 1xokThe Switch currently has currently 4404 games, see:

Where will the Steam Deck be after 5 years?
There could be surely more working games than any major console currently in the market, but people has to verify also very unknown games. Unfortunately there are around 64k games in the Steam store, and the ProtonDB website has shown that around 70% of the recorded games have a silver (or better) rating. Ideally, if we assume that that percentage is evenly distributed along all games, we could reach around 45k games supported on Linux/Steam Deck.
I mean how many of those games are the kind that are asset flip trash? There's a decent percentage of those...

There are definitely types of games that just won't fit smoothly with controller + touch screen as the only input. And some that are just plain going to be more playable with mouse / keyboard.

But even if only a 5th or a 3rd of Steam games get full Deck support, it'll be one of the largest game libraries ever. Not to mention all the emulation potential!

Seriously. Aside from my Steam library, I got Chiaki (PS4 streaming), GFN, Stadia and Emudeck all set on my Steam Deck... I'm all covered and it was really easy to setup. There is no game I can't play on that thing (currently in a Horizon Zero Dawn run). The Steam Deck experience (hardware and software) is awesome. It's definetely the device I didn't knew I wanted.

I'm keeping my PC for racing games (because I have a good steering wheel setup)... Nothing else. It's going to collect a lot of dust.

Linux share on Steam hits highest peak in years thanks to Steam Deck

Quoting: denyasisSo that's about 118,000 Deck Users. I guess that's a good number for sales, but I guess I was expecting the over all Linux % to be more positively affected by the Deck. I guess it'll take more time. Hopefully it translates into more mainstream Linux use as well.

I'm wondering if Valve wasn't also using Q1 and Q2 shipments for beta testing. They might have voluntarily reduced the quantity of units shipped to avoid being overwhelmend by support tickets. Probably they feel more confident now, because the first batch of Q3 emails is like a tidal wave compared to what it was before, in terms of units shipped. Looking forward for next months Linux market share.

Valve to ship 'more than double' the number of Steam Decks each week

Holy crap! More than double?! Vastly underestimated... My rtReserveTime queue was progressing by 4-5mins per 3 days, in average... It just got bumped by 48mins for the last 3 days. I'm 15mins from ordering... Meaning I went up from 54.75% to 89.37% on GetMyDeck.

Will I be able to order it on monday? Please! Please! Please! Make it so!

Update (July 4th): Just got my email! "My precious" is ordered! Q3 is really ramping up!

Good news! I was starting to loose faith that I would get it in Q3, with the current shipping rate...
I can't stand it anymore! Where is mine!!?? My Precious!!

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE arrives on Steam — plus it's Steam Deck Verified

Quoting: CyborgZetaMy current setup can run this game at 1080p on high, but it makes my GPU sound like a jet engine. Guess I won't be playing this again until I get a new GPU; whenever that ends up being. I JUST bought this one back in December when I built my PC.

Had a similar issue with my Asus Phoenix GTX 1660 Super. Lots of games that I couldn't play at max settings because of the noise and heat (not because the gpu lacked performances). Since gpu prices were through the roof, I ended up buyind an IDCooiling Iceflow 240 VGA cooler:

https://www.idcooling.com/Product/detail/id/233/name/ICEFLOW%20240%20VGA%20ARGB

Not on the cheap side, but it's doing a much better job than the stock cooler. It went down from 80-81deg with 100% fan speed (hairdryer sound) to 56-60deg with 60% fan which is much quieter than my case fans (CM SickleFlow 120). I can say with confidence that I have a silent build, now.

Prices are way down, today, so this solution might not be as attractive as it was, couple of months ago, but still an option if you plan on keeping your gpu for another build (I will probably put it in my son's computer, when I upgrade).

Quoting: syxbitFor everyone saying "why are people only playing indie games"
It's because Playing the Witcher 3 (at high settings) gets you <2h battery life. India games can get you >5h.
That's quite impactful. I have a desktop and a Deck. So I deliberately play indie stuff on the Deck to maximize battery, and mostly play the AAA stuff on my desktop where power consumption doesn't matter as much.
If an improved Deck came out that could do >6h on AA games, I'd play them, but 2h of battery life isn't that compelling.

2h of playtime? It's more than my average gaming session!

Steam Deck now lets you override display resolution for games
3 June 2022 at 12:52 pm UTC Likes: 3

This is the magic of Gamescope! If I get it right, it's able to isolate the game in a Window that "emulates" a virtual screen with the resolution of your choice and the game gets "tricked" into that resolution. Gamescope is such a bully!

Edit: I put that into my words, sorry if I fumbled with terminology.
