Valve launches Deck Verified, to show off what games will work well on the Steam Deck

Before worrying about the 100% compatibility mark, I would try to get the same tests on Windows 10-11 with Windows games... It might be lower than 90%.

Ex: My son was never able to run Batman Arkham Asylum on Windows... I did with Proton.

I mean... 100% support doesn't exist, even on Windows, so...

Quoting: Alm888So… In other words, Valve acknowledges that their "all your library should work" and "no porting required" promises are not feasible.
It is basically WINE's AppDB version 3 (with ProtonDB being version 2).

No matter what others say, I won't believe emulated Windows games will ever run perfectly, especially when they have issues even with newer versions of Windows itself.

"Runs Great With Proton!" Yeah, sure.

Maybe, but as we have seen in another article, the top 100 games is already covered at 80% min... Not counting the games that will support Proton EAC or BattleEye (another 15% span). I don't think we need to worry about it too much.

Interresting... Some other reasons that makes me think that futur games will probably be more Proton friendly than right now which is already in good shape.

Ubuntu 21.10 'Impish Indri' is out now with GNOME 40, Kernel 5.13

Quoting: scainePulseaudio 15 is now weirdly "meh", now that the world has re-focused on Pipewire instead. I suppose Pipewire still leverages PA under the hood though?

And yeah, looking forward to Pop_OS 21.10 now, albeit, I take their improvements with a pinch of salt these days, given that I'm a bit of a KDE convert!

Totally get your point. Still hoping for SteamOS 3.0 to be released. If it's widely available, that's probably when I'll switch to KDE.

AMD Radeon RX 6600 launches today aimed at high-refresh rates and 1080p

In fact, I just want to swap my noisy GTX 1660 Super because my son want's it and it runs a lot quieter on Windows than on Linux. The problem is not the price, it's the availability. On Newegg.ca, 500$CAN is like 356$US (approx.) which is not far from MSRP.

Edit: Can't even find a scalper posting yet. It just feels like these have not been shipped yet, at all.

You're not cynical, you're realistic. All of this trouble with GPUs is behind me constantly pushing back any kind of remote idea of getting an upgraded system. I'm starting to wonder when it will impact the games - they'll realise nobody has the kind of system that can run what they want and will have to adjust requirements accordingly. Or just push it out on a streaming service and leave desktop systems out of it entirely.

With the current state of the market, paying for a PC just for gaming is almost stupid. If you just want to play new games, it's 100% better inversion to go for the PS5/xbox.

Yep... But if you got a massive Steam Library that you don't want to let go... The Steam Deck might be a good alternative to PS5 or Xbox.

I'm wondering if the futur of PC gaming is not going to be in the APU market... Since they are unfit for mining... All Ryzen 6000 series will have integrated GPUs... AM5 socket with good DDR5 speeds... And the Steam Deck laying the foundations for the APU market segment... Maybe something good will come out of it... Maybe.

cheapest Available is 550 euro

I will not buy the successor of my GTX 1050 TI for more than the 150 euro i paid for back then. 200 euro tops.
I would rather play without a discrete GPU than pay 550 euro for 1080p gaming. Hell, i'd rather play 8bit and 16bit games on a raspberry pi for the rest of my life than pay that price!
It goes for both green and red team! They both lost the plot between the price the HUGE power consumption the big cards need now.

Have you found any in stock? Here (Canada), there is nothing to show for... Yeah got some price ranges on Newegg (From 500$ CAN and up), but it's "Out of stock" everywhere.

Tried disabling cloud saves, validated the local files, deleted it and reinstalled it... I tried with Proton and it seems to work fine... I would much prefer to support the native build though...
Loads just fine here.

Seriously... Brand new Pop_OS install 21.04. Nothing special, no "hugly tweaks"... I don't know what's going on...

Edit: Ok... Not worried at all... Did a BIOS upgrade to my Asus TUF B550M Plus Mobo and now the game starts normally. Problem solved?

Edit2: Nope... Not completely solved... It starts 1 out of 2 tries (3/6)... But at least I was able to start it a couple of times... Interresting game.
