Open 3D Engine (O3DE) gets real close to properly working Linux support, free Kythera AI

Linux support is ofc nice. But that "AI" software... if the enemy AI in the Aquanox reboot is the best it can do, I rather have something else :(

Ah, I already suspected the thumb-sticks being somewhat touch sensitive based on their look. This is definitely a very cool improvement over the Steam controller.

Free strategy game Vectorio opens up the source code

A pity that with the Unity3D dependency the source-code is basically useless...

Looks like Splitgate will be the next 'big thing' FPS supported on Linux

Played it a bit... but those people being matched with me seem to be really bad console players or fake bots? I am by no means a good FPS player (average at best), but immediately being the best player on the first game to ever play feels... dunno fake?

Quoting: EikeIn the smallest variant, it's empty.

Netflix is getting into video games, so we'll have another cloud gaming service

Hmm... given that Valve already does cooperate with Netflix on some things, I wonder if there is any link there. While Valve would probably be able to make their own cloud streaming service (utilizing servers from someone like AWS or IBM/RedHat), they have so far been quite reluctant to do so and I think they have realized that their customer base doesn't want "yet another streaming subscription service" (like they don't want "yet another exclusive game store").

So short of not entering this market at all, maybe they just say... lets make a cooperation with Netflix? Seems like a good partner as they don't compete with Valve otherwise and they already have the servers and customers.

Linux Foundation launches the Open 3D Engine based upon Amazon Lumberyard

According to the article here: https://venturebeat.com/2021/07/06/amazons-lumberyard-becomes-an-open-source-3d-game-engine-with-support-from-20-companies/

It was actually rewritten from scratch over the original Crytek engine fork. This is news to me, but that could mean it was never fully completed (like the last 10% are 90% of the work).

Humble Bundle confirms changes coming mid-July to add a minimum payment for Humble

QuoteHumble boss Alan Patmore said "Operational costs, such as the cost of acquiring content, have risen dramatically" which is one of the reasons why they're doing this.

Sounds to me like Epic is at fault for that given the sums they have offered for their give-away titles.
