This isn't so much about creating a useful library for commercial game developers to easily use Steam achivements, but offering a FOSS alternative to this walled garden. Think of it in terms of Mastodon Vs. Twitter. Gamerzilla is trying to do what Mastodon does, not just write an alternative front-end client for Twitter.

Yeah, performance is pretty good. The main problem for now is the server side performance, mainly in relation to the physics tick rate. During the release party the server had to scale down to 10 ticks per second due to overload (beefy server and about 100 players). So while your client might be plenty fast, it will still look laggy due to the physics tick rate*.

*Of course you could have more client side interpolation, but then there is a lot of guess-work involved on the client side and you get the typical network lag effects visible in some other games.

Yeah, or some sort of newbie town where only the lower level players spawn.

But so far it hasn't been a problem, as there is basically no PvP happening at all in the game. This release party was really the exception with people just randomly messing around.

Quoting: Sojiro84Checked out the game today as well. Saw a Reddit thread about it.

As far as new player experiences go, it's terrible.

I joined, got killed almost instantly. I respawn in the exact same spot and the same player kills me again.

I then decided to run away and the damn player is chasing me for about 20 minutes when I just gave up.

So, yeah, probably not going to be playing the game again anytime soon if this isn't fixed. I don't even got a chance to learn how the game works. Are there levels? If so, then the first few levels there should be immunity so that one can learn how to play the game.

Lol, that normally never happens. Why did you decide to join in like the 2 hours of a release party chaos (which is maybe once a month at most), instead of trying the game during a normal time?

There are no levels, this is more like an open world game. There are some dungeons you can enter though.

After having seen how well Half-Life works with the unofficial port to the Occulus Quest:

I sincerely hope the next step is to port Black Mesa to the Half-Life: Alyx engine... Shouldn't be impossible I think ;)

Looks like it will actually get worse 1.1.2021 in the EU. Some sort of new banking regulation coming into force that at least my current bank seems to interpret in a way that they have to use a broken Android app now :(
I am currently looking for options to switch my bank because of that... too many times that sh*t just didn't work and I was left in trouble :(
