Hmm, while nice I do wonder if these kind of ports make back their money. I, like many others I believe already own those games (never managed to finish them under Windows, back when I was still dual-booting). So this is indeed a nice gift, but I don't really plan to buy them again as I am unlikely to invest much time in those games. Of course if the port was really easy, it might be worth it, who knows.

Freespace 2 looks set to gain an open source mission editor

Yeah, the lack of a proper open-source license has held this project back so much... it is really a shame. Almost like the Homeworld 1 source release, that also came with a stupid shared-source license :(

Vanguard Princess, a popular 2D fighting game is now on Linux & SteamOS

This is a really good fighting game if you look past the aging graphics and other technical limitations. IMHO much better than Skull Girls and most other recent 2D fighting games.

Could you please add KDE Neon as an option: https://neon.kde.org/

Or maybe have the Kubuntu option as both, since it is very close to that and somewhat a successor to it?

Maybe a funny question would be also if the computer came with Linux preinstalled (Steam boxes, Tuxedo etc.). Additional it could have the answer, "no, but everything works out of the box with no extra configuration" or so.

Vikings – Wolves of Midgard Announced from Kalypso Media and Games Farm with Linux support

Hmm, why didn't they re-use the VictorVran engine? That one worked really well and didn't have all the typical Unity issues/slowness :(

The original was fun but frustrating... never got it to run in full-screen properly though. Hopefully this time they sorted out the smaller technical issues.

Vanguard Princess, a 2D fighting game that features an all-female cast is coming to Linux

Someone over at reddit's linux_gaming is claiming that it is CodeWeavers who is doing the port, which in theory would make sense given how well this runs on WINE. But no real source I guess.

Edit: digging around a bit more it seems to be based on: "I am listening to BoilingSteam Podcast right now and the president of Codeweavers even mentioned Vanguard Princess" post by the same user on Steam. Haven't got around listening to that podcast myself though.

Interesting would be to see who did the MacOSX port that is already available (which also seems to be a wine bottle according to some commenters).

Edit2: However it seems that originally they wanted to port this game to a multiplatform engine as Linux support was already promised >2 years ago during the Greenlight campaign.
