Have been playing this with WINE (platinum support) quite a bit, and it is IMHO a much better 2D fighter than Skull girls. At the very least it is more traditional, game-play and aesthetics wise.
I guess this is among the best 2D fighting games (outside of emulators) that we can hope for on Linux, although of course the newer Blaz Blue or Guilty Gear series games would rock (mainly due to the HD graphics)

The dual boot option needs Android now that there is a working x86 version and more and more desktop features (RemixOS, AndroidN windows etc.).

How about adding an option if the user has a VR headset and also which type (incl. non-linux like Occulus or Daydream to show general interest). Just for future reference regarding VR support on Linux.

Well, "run nicely" in the sense that it starts up fine... but during the game it used to have serious performance issues. But maybe fixed now... last time I tried was a few months ago.
Overall pretty cool game though.

Most games suck, so will VR games... but the awesome games will be even more awesome with VR ;)
But ultimately hardcore VR really isn't for the majority of the general public, just like movies are of course better in the cinema than on a small TV with commercial breaks, but the latter is still what the majority (quite intentional, because of course they could go to the cinema) is using.
The real great thing about VR is that it is an enthusiast hardware driven by hardcore games and porn, which pushes the technological boundaries and puts the foundations for Augmented Reality (AR) in place. Because all the tech is very similar, but we are still a quite a bit off achieving good AR. And If you ever read Suarez' Daemon books ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daemon_%28novel_series%29 ) you will know that proper AR is a game-changer like the Internet once it arrives.

Does it run a bit better than Trine3? My old PC just isn't quite up to T3 and this seems like they used the same engine, assets etc. to make a "quick" game to recover a bit from the financial disaster that has been Trine3 according to some articles a while back..

It's mainly the software that sucks (lots of demos and VR tests, few actual fun games), but you get Occulus etc. who spread that "the hardware isn't there yet" for two years. Or rather: "only our $700 headset with <20ms response times is enjoyable at all" etc. Not sure why they do that (scaring people from trying it seems a bad idea), as CardboardVR (the original) is already pretty cool even with a 720p screen. Ok not great, but nothing really horrible about it either and definitely good enough for the WOW effect and some simple, fun games.
I am looking forward to the new Google stuff next week that will be likely much cheaper, and I think the PS4 HMD will be by far the most popular as it is good enough for people to enjoy VR with it, but doesn't cost an arm and a leg (and I have never owned a Playstation nor will I change that, but the current PC HMDs are clearly over-engineered and too expensive).

Quoting: BillNyeTheBlackGuyI think VR sucks right now, but even then I found the HTC vive to be an immersive experience.

I hope there will be a nice mini PC (Zotac or Brix or so), with a Polaris10 and a AM4 socket Bristol Ridge APU as a launch system. Since the Bristol Ridge APU has nearly the same watt usage as the Zens that will come out later this year, it would be an smooth upgrade as both use DRR4 and AM4.

Also got "Freaking Meatbags" dirt cheap on steam, and it is a pretty cool pixel tower-defense, RTS, gene-splicing kind of game that runs great on Linux.
Convoy is also fun, but didn't give me a long term motivation to play.
Battlestation Harbinger is cool if you are looking for a mobile game.

Just a general note: It's mostly open-source, but the audio assets and the story/gameplay scripts are not. Still a great pool of open source assets though.
It's just such a shame that this never really took off in open-source development. Sure, it got some improvements and works quite well on modern systems... but it's still essentially the same game with little custom made content or alternative open-source game servers etc.
I guess it is mainly due to the fact that it is just sooo outdated by today's standards that improving it in your free-time seems like an uphill battle :( Maybe a Android port and a VR version would help, as for those the relatively low-spec requirements actually help getting a larger community intersted.
