Knowing that the Linux kernel maintainers don't allow two drivers enabled for the same hardware at the same time (from what I understood), there's going to be a battle between RADV and AMD if they open source their Vulkan drivers...

Right now I'm not sure there's enough game-only news on Linux, but as time goes on, if the amount of game news increases significantly, maybe it would be nice to have these technical news on LifeOnLinux...

LifeOnLinux is like the newer, better Phoronix (or at least I wish that it is what it would become ;) ), and this is the kind of news that Phoronix covers.

But all in all, on GoL or on LoL, I don't really care, I'm following both (though I need more and more a Google+ page for LoL :/ ) and as long as the news is on one of these websites, I'm happy ^^

I am really concerned about that. Dropping a platform is, from the beginning, unacceptable. But not even noticing the users is simply beyond my comprehension...

I love Days of Wonders, they made almost all of my favorite tabletop games, but this behavior toward Linux is completely intolerable.

Very interesting interview indeed! I rejoin my fellow penguins in saying that Feral has been a very important part in making the Linux platform a viable gaming solution, so thank you very much for that (and for Alien: Isolation :D )

I would have asked one more question: as Feral improves the launcher and the port of their games, how much the old games take advantage of these improvements? For instance, can I hope for a patch for A:I that would improve the performances, etc?

With the usual trend, making a game basically means "getting no money for at least a year, often more, and hope that the final product is good enough and people will like it".
When you have no money, this business plan is quite hard to live with, and with the rise of the indie scene, maybe that's why we're seeing more and more different business models popping up. The idea being to have a small income of hard cash while you're developing your game.

That's my editorial at least ;)

I have the exact same behavior! I thought it was because I was using the mesa drivers and not the latest one (mesa 13.0 with llvm 3.8 and kernel 4.9).

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this behavior, but this worries me a bit if the bug also exists with the NVIDIA proprietary drivers...

I personally own a RX 480 and I'm quite happy with it. My kind of games are Dota 2, Cities: Skyline, Civilization (all of them :D ), Alien: Isolation, ...
I'm sure an NVIDIA card would perform better for the same price, but I like the fact that with AMD it is plug and play thanks to the open source drivers, and also that each new release of Mesa bring a ton of improvements!

Maybe I'm wrong, but for what I understand HDCP isn't a feature, it's a mandatory API that has to be implemented if you want to connect devices using DVI, HDMI, DP, etc... A BD player needs it, but your display needs it also. So, no HDCP, no image basically...

The results also show an FPS increase which is weird because from what I've gathered this feature shouldn't improve FPS. Someone on forums mentioned it has something to do with the benchmark restarting itself but honestly I don't quite understand the explanation given.

The increased FPS is simply because there is less stuttering due to shader compilation in between two frames. The number shown is an average after a few minutes of gameplay. Mainly you won't see an increase, but you will feel that the games stutter less (from the second time you launch them)
