I've been playing 5 hours yesterday (Manjaro, AMD open source drivers) and I've been surprised of the performances actually. It's not perfect, I'm often under 30fps, but I have a pretty old machine so I'm not surprised by that. It actually works as good as the two Civilizations, but the rendering is far better on Cities: Skylines (with the radeon drivers).

I'm an absolute fan of city builders, so much that despite your previous warnings Liam, I pre-ordered the game ;)
I hope performances will be fixed though. I have quite a specific configuration: Manjaro with the open source Radeon drivers, so... fingers crossed!
Among the evolutions over the versions of Sim City, I liked the fact that water and electricity was transported simply with the roads. It simplifies greatly the handling of this layer which is, as you said, quite tedious at some point. Especially since other, more interesting stuff is manageable in the game, like the subway.
Unlike you Liam, I quite like that the pollution can't be removed that easily. I've seen in the Paradox videos that you can specialized the industry zones and, for instance, have an entire zone only to harvest forests, which produce less pollution. And maybe by unlocking buildings, we can access to greener ones.

Imagine you know perfectly where your header is. You include it without using any completion. It works on Windows, but you may have missed a capital letter somewhere. That's for programming.
Then for the data made by the artists, on top on the fact that there are thousands of files, consider that the name could have changed during the process. An artist could have missed a capital letter and add it back later, but the code doesn't know, and since it still works in Windows, no one cares.
If you know you'll code for a case sensitive OS, it's eventually easier to use small letters and underscores ('_') all the time.

Puppy Games Aren't Impressed With Linux Sales (UPDATED)

Came to around the same results here and I was also surprised of what they had to say about their Linux figures considering it's only 1% of the gaming landscape (and they should know it). Moreover this $12K seems to be from Steam only? That would mean that just with Steam, us (Linux gamers), made the double of what they should expect for the entire lifetimes of their games. Not bad... not bad at all, I say.

Quoting: natewardawgFrom the blog post that EKRboi linked to (http://www.puppygames.net/blog/?p=1369) they had made about $620k total as of Mid-2013 and I suspect it hasn't gone up too much from that. A projection of Linux's 1% market should get them about $6,200, yet they got $12,000. The $12k figure is from Steam sales only and the $620k figure includes all sales.
That means that the Linux user base has supported them by double of what they should expect. So the Tweet comes across as showing either a) a lack of research of their own data and/or b) an unrealistic expectation.
