This type of games are usually called "tug of war", as far as I know. Looks interesting.

If possible, please always mention early access titles in the article title or early in the description. There are quite a few people who avoid any early access games and it's a bit frustrating to learn about it only after reading the whole article and then looking at the steam page. Thank you!

Quoting: rea987Unfortunately, the game was not sold well, therefor the dev criticized the current form of the industry. Here is the comment of TotalBiscuit regarding the issue. The game looks nice.

That's for Airscape, not Rack n Ruin.

The trailer looks fun, but why do they make the games so damn pixelated nowadays? I have troubles seeing things, it's just a mess of big pixels. It reminds me a bit on Unepic, though, which I quite enjoyed.

Quoting: ripperPlease stop embedding Twitch viewer in the articles, give just a link. If you don't have Flash installed, it pops up a download dialog in Firefox with a swf file, and that drives me crazy. Twitch deserves to be boycotted for that.

That's firefox behaviour, not twitch, go bug the firefox guys.

No, not really. I don't have Chrome on desktop (and I'm not sure the integrated Flash can be even disabled), but I tested on Android and it automatically runs a media player (VLC in my case) to try to play the swf file. Of course it can't, so it ends after a second and flickers back to the browser. So it's even worse, because the file is automatically executed (wow, that's what I call a security hole). So browsing articles like these (with Twitch included) from a mobile device is even worse experience than desktop Firefox with no Flash.

This even bugs me in my RSS reader.

So, I'm not saying this is GOL fault, it seems Twitch is to blame equally as browser developers, but the end result is that every article with Twitch embedded here on GOL, makes it an unpleasant reading experience. For mobile users and desktop users without Flash.

Our Linux Game Release Calendar Is Now Live

The events still don't display as a full time events (but 2 AM in my case), so they are hardly visible. I wonder when this is going to get implemented?

@liamdave, thanks for the ical, great work. I have a couple of improvement suggestions:

1. On the calendar page, you say "We have an ical too, [click here to grab it]. Use it in your calendar apps!". That actually can lead to an impression that you can download the file and import it in your desktop/online calendar app. But then you would receive just static, never-updating content. What about saying something like "We have an ical too, [copy this link] and add it into your desktop/online/mobile calendar app!" ? That should be more obvious.

2. In my Google Calendar, the events are displays from 2 AM to 2:30 AM. That's seems to be caused by the fact that you set all events to last from midnight to midnight (zero duration) and I'm in UTC+2 timezone. This is how it looks like now in the ical file:
DTSTART:20150127T000000Z
DTEND:20150127T000000Z

If you change it to something like this, it should be displayed as a full day event, regardless of timezone:
DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20150127
DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20150128

(Depending on the library that you use, if you have troubles counting that +1 date due to ends of months, leap years and stuff, just use the end date the same as the start date. It seems to work as well.)

3. I wouldn't put "GOL > " in front of every event title, I think most people will distinguish different calendar by colors anyway, so there's no reason to put identifiers in. If you want to have it there, what about putting it to the end of the title, so that the events are easier to read?

Thanks.

This is great. Could you publish this also as an ical link, so that people can add it to their calendar applications and see it directly in it?
