It is, but it belongs to Capcom. I'll throw Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Romancing SaGa, The World Ends With You, and all their sequels into the list, plus once-famous one-offs like The Bouncer and Rad Racer, to replace that one.

You're totally right about Dragon Quest, by the way!

woops! i said i was out of touch when it comes to the gaming industry, monster hunter was from another company lol

Yeah every time a AAA company says something like "quality over quantity", what I hear is "we are spending even more on a handful of big franchises in the most popular genres instead of doing anything new or creative or investing in more diverse games".
Yeah, I found myself thinking "So, just new iterations of big blockbusters, then."

The thing is, aside from FF, I don't know what blockbusters Square Enix has left... Eidos was behind the Deus Ex and Tomb Raider franchises and it was sold, along with the ips...
are you kidding?
dragon quest sell a lot in japan, to the point that i wouldnt be surprised if it sell more on japan alone than final fantasy worldwide.
the day an dragon quest is relased its holiday because no one will work that day.

nier was an niche game, until nier automata made it popular and now even old nier games sell.

Anything that sells.

i wish.
if their mad scientists plan was to sell games, that would be a good thing, nowadays you have to sell dlcs, skins, lootbox, gambling , ads, subscriptions, seasson pass, battlepasses...

"Interesting that we have Square Enix just generally looking to expand across more platforms and slow down a little for quality"
the issue is that may mean kill niche titles that arent bad but arent as popular as their main franchises

EA want to put adverts in your video games to squeeze you for every penny
13 May 2024 at 12:19 pm UTC

honestly i dont think this is so bad depending on how its done.
its a completely different thing to interrupt the gameplay of an game to show an ad, and use the ingame scenario to put ads on, lets say, billboards.

the second case would just feel natural, i mean there are tons of ads on futebol billboards, and in some cities like newyork.

if they replaced one of the forms of monetization, like less dlcs, cheaper prices on the main game, or stuff like that and put ads to compensate that wouldnt be that bad.

Spoiler, click me
but no, they are greedy so they will put ads on top of everything else.

NVIDIA switching to open kernel modules by default in future driver update for Turing+

Quoting: lejimsterI thought I had seen a lot of news related to Nvidia and open source projects lately. I wonder... Maybe they are involved in a piece of hardware Valve are making? We know Valve want the ability to fix driver issues as they arise which is only possible if the drivers are open source.
either a valve home console, or VR Headset or just steamOS general relase...

i doubt steamdeck 2 will go nvidia

Zelda-inspired dungeon maker 'Quest Master' arrives May 29th with a new demo live

im sure this will be a lot of fun, but what i like the most about zelda, was that i saw a lot of things for the first time on it.
the issue with playing the second zelda game is that most of the things are repeated, only a few new itens and puzzles.
and in the case of an maker this problem only get worse, each custom made level will remind me again and again that this is not the reason why i like this type of game, i hope people can find an way to create unique puzzles despite the limitations of the tool.
