X Rebirth Space Sim Now On Linux In Alpha Form & Free On Steam For The Weekend

Well, done first mission of the campaign. It's working well here.

No issues. Have it set at ultra @ 1440p. FPS 70-80. Cut scenes are 110fps (4790k + 290x)

I don't get how the likes of Valve/Aspyr/feral/Metro guys and what not can get games to use AMD GPU's fine but Techland cant

To be honest the egosoft ports have worked flawless for me, dont see this been bad.

Quoting: XeekeiConsidering I can't even launch X3: Reunion or Terran Conflict, and that the keyboard doesn't work in Albion Prelude; X Rebirth doesn't have a high bar to clear.

What you running Xeekei ?

Dying Light Major Patch Released, Performance Finally Okay On Linux (UPDATED)
10 March 2015 at 7:52 pm UTC

Well after patch it took an age to start first time, seemed to be compiling the shaders I guess.

Good news is it's an improvement from what it was on a 4790k + 290x

It was @ 1024x768 all on low , outside 4-9 fps, looking at floor was 25 ish

After patch @ 1080p all low, outside 30 ish, looking at floor was 80 ish. still not playable.

Still not great but a definite improvement.

To put that into context , Windows (sorry)

1440p all high/max draw distance default , outside 80+ ;)

This was all done out front of tower during day btw.

Edit:

Interesting snippet from the logs I found

INFO: [INFO] > [OpenGL] Adaptive vsync is NOT SUPPORTED

I did ask a AMD rep on OCUK about linux support but got blanked.

Dying Light Massive Patch Due 10th of March, And New DLC
7 March 2015 at 11:13 am UTC

It's going to have to be a spectacular patch to be frank for AMD people. I tried all sorts to get it playable on my 290x.

Dropped res down to 1280x1024 alll low, got a massive 9is fps outside......

To put that into context , same machine in windows @ 1440p all maxed bar the draw distance , 90 ish :O (nvidia bits off)

But you never know, they may surprise us, kinda hoping they do. As I feel the problems are from the dev's lack of experience/knowledge of our platform

Quoting: pete910I keep trying UT too, All I get is weird graphic bugs, fine in menu. Soon as you start looks like the scene is been smudged...

Very peculiar . That's on a 290x with fglrx(14.12)

Try with & without the "-opengl4" bit on the end. I get what you describe with -opengl4 and a radeon 6950, but it works fine with a kaveri.

Just hard locks when I try without the -opengl4
