Grab a big load of the X Universe space games from Humble Bundle

Quoting: gilboaX3:R also had a native Linux port (LGP), which worked just as well, but a DRM feature that died with the company.

LGP released/sent the keys to valve to redeem via steam, That's why I have X3:R on steam.

Just to point out in that in the bundle X3:R seems to be missing Which is a shame as that's still the best one IMHO

Not knowing how many they have made or pre orders taken you cant make that assumption.

"In the first month very quickly we'll be in the tens of thousands, by the second month we'll be in the hundreds of thousands. And beyond that it'll grow even quicker."

havent you being following the news?

The point still stands, regards the news, No. Apart from it's generally depressing the time I do have I pop on here and Phoronix then have an hour or so gaming.

Quoting: sarmadThere is no way the Linux market share can hit 5% in only 1~2 years.

It is possible to just highly unlikely. Seem to remember Android having a surge 2016 ish.

In truth I don't want it to be either, Let the idiots stay on winXX and let those that actually have brain cells between their ears come to use Linux

Have you seen some of the software reviews on GNOME Software or KDE Discover by any chance? I don't think you have to be a computer expert to use desktop linux lol.

Honestly in my opinion, people who are interested in linux are already using it in some capacity and everyone else couldn't care less. It doesn't help that the only 'gaming' PC you're going to find that comes with it preinstalled is the Steam Deck.

Can't say I've ever read Gnome/KDE reviews, never new that was a thing to be frank.

You'd be surprised how many try it that have never used it, due in part to some folk saying it's the same as windows. In which then they give up because... Shocker, it's not the same as windows.

Calling the deck a PC is a little strong, Valve have never stated that it's a "Gaming PC" that I'm aware of.
To me it's aimed squarely at console people, but I do see what you are saying .

GPD are getting quite desperate against the Steam Deck

Quoting: setzer22But my point is that many people seem to agree that Valve is selling the lowest tier at a loss.

It's still speculation, No info regards actual pricing has been released from Valve.

I certainly not disputing that they may be barely profiting on some.

Most know that what price for materials that are seen to joe average can and often is very different to what an individual company will be paying.

I honestly doubt that.
This isn't a console that can make up for selling at a loss with absurd stuff like costs-to-play-online or generally overpriced games.
Nor is it going to bring it tons of new customers - I'd bet that 99% of buyers are Steam customers anyway.

Nail meet hammer...

My thoughts exactly, Not at all convinced the likes of M$/Sony sell them at a loss either.

Until any company release actual BOM of the devices it's all pure speculation/rumor.

Lutris 0.5.10 Beta 1 is out with Origin and Ubisoft Connect integration

Quoting: cazzooTo answer this one, Playnite is kind of the same, but dedicated to Windows AFAIK. Lutris goes even further, allowing to play windows games in linux leveraging Wine builds. There are some contributors helping to keep updated version of wine fully compatible with Lutris, embeding all latest changes from Proton, Proton GE and Wine.
I always thought Lutris just used various versions of Wine, like PlayOnLinux does, and then the community tweaks installer scripts so that installs work correctly. Last I checked they didn't use Proton at all.

They do however, you can use proton with Lutris fine. Proton-GE has been compiled for both Steam and Luris use. Just a case of installing the relevant runner that you need.

Edit:

QuoteThis is my build of WINE based on/forked from the most recent bleeding-edge proton experimental wine repo. This is meant to be used with non-steam games outside of Steam.
