GOL On Advert Blocking, I Don't Hate You, But Please Don't Do It

Quoting: n30p1r4t3P.S. I think it would be good if you published your monthly financial reports so that we KNOW where all the money is going rather than assuming it's just buying you another 6-pack for example.
I don't agree with that at all, people donate/pay for gol premium on the basis that it's to keep GOL going, it's my choice to use it on whatever I need to make that happen. It's income for me plain and simple.
I second that.
GOL is not a public service.
You should support it because you think it's worth it, either by seeing ads or donating money.
The fact that there's money to spare for any number of 6-packs is irrelevant.

I bought it from LGP years ago.
Ridiculously fun.

GameLaunched, a new game-specific crowdfunding platform

they lost my here:
"We do not allow any games with nudity or sexual behavior"

censorship is always bad, but on general terms like "nudity" it's ridiculous.
Duke Nukem 3D could not have been funded on this site.
so indies bypass the restrictions of a publisher to serve the gamer directly, just to be chastised by the funding platform.

Quoting: liamdaweI have a sent a feature request to the website devs
yeah, I'm surprised they don't already have specific fields in the description, given the specific nature of the projects.

also, they seem to have a consistent problem with possessive pronouns.

After Reset - a classic post-apocalyptic role-playing game

Advice to game developers:
don't state your perceived target audience publicly, those on target will feel pigeonholed, the others will feel excluded.

And as MaximB says, this one was especially ridiculous.

John Carmack of id software chimes in on Wine gaming

"So there will always be developers who have been brought up on Windows and know nothing of the world outside of it".

Saying anything will *always* be is hardly realistic.
While the trend is slow, the importance of Windows has decreased in the last decade.
I don't expect it to go away in my lifetime, but OS awareness is on the rise among developers and Windows is looking more and more like an anomaly, technically speaking (it's either some-Unix-or-other with openGL or Windows with Direct3D).
What we can hope for in the near future is a culture where cross platform programming becomes the norm.
Of course in the meantime we will keep gratefully using Wine.

Quoting: "Bestia, post: 5995, member: 148"Strike Suit Zero a space combar game. Unfortunately they included Mac and Linux as a stretch goal at $180 000 (that's $80 000 above the main goal).

but they are currently likely to hit it.
which is just as well, as the game looks very good.

Steam Greenlight Has Some Linux Options

I still cringe every time someone uses words incorrectly (yes, I cringe quite often).
Fortunately the use of PC to mean sone specific OS will begin to fade soon, as recognition of the existence of alternatives sets in.

Drifter - A space trading game

I sent him a message on kickstarter and he said he will not manage a linux build at launch, being the only developer.
But he also added: "For what it's worth, a Linux version of the game is something that will happen eventually."
