The developers of fan-made Halo game 'Project Contingency' have decided not to support Linux

Quoting: razing32I'm not a coder by trade and can't really contribute like that.
But I might make a donation if you guys need it :)

I appreciate the sentiment, but unfortunately, we cannot accept monetary donations of any kind. If you would like to help, please consider spreading word. Some programmer or software engineer out there will eventually notice.

An update has been issued which states the following:
QuoteThank you to @Raven67854 for pointing out that Vulkan is actually supported on Linux. My apologies, I'll try not to make mistakes like this in the future. However, this unfortunately does not change our decision regarding Linux. It's not 100% (out) of the question but definitely out of the scope for what we're trying to do right now. - Joshe343

So it may come to Linux at some point, but likely some time after the initial release, if at all. It would be nice, but with the general sentiment towards Linux and Linux gamers, I'm not holding my breath.

If not, there's always Installation 01, and if it ever gets finished, TiaraCE.

Quoting: razing32Never been a Halo fan.
Would have been curios of a fan re-write.
Oh well , like Liam pointed out there is Installation 01.
And yeah these devs seem kinda inept going by that statement , or they have a VERY flimsy excuse.

I actually am attempting to coordinate a project to rewrite Halo's underlying BLAM! engine for native cross-platform play of Halo PC and Custom Edition maps. Here's the project's GitHub organization page.

unfortunately, the project is still in its infancy and we are in need of team members who can understand assembly and debugging. Work is being done behind the scenes, but it's very slow going at the time of writing.

QuoteProject Contingency was created under Microsoft's "Game Content Usage Rules" using assets from Halo. It's not endorsed by Microsoft and does not reflect the views or opinions of Microsoft or anyone officially involved in producing or managing Halo.

Yes, yes..

The game content usage rules state that fan-projects may not use ripped assets. The assets themselves can be as close as the artist wants, so long as they did it themselves.

It's time to bug Feral Interactive about future port requests once again

Batman: Arkham Asylum - This game would make a great addition to the Linux gaming ecosystem. It has some of the best mood, aesthetic, storytelling, and replay value of any superhero game out there. The graphical fidelity, art direction, and choice of voice actors make for memorable experiences time and again.

As somebody who has only ever played this on a friend's Xbox 360, I'd gladly pay full price for this game if it was available for Linux.

Intel launches their new CPUs with Radeon RX Vega M Graphics along with two new 'NUC' mini-pc models

Quoting: EagleDeltaI understand your feelings, but if that's how you feel, then you shouldn't use computers.
Such a long post to justify something that actually could be avoided if testing before releasing were done properly, then Intel jumping into new models and products while old stuff is still broken isnt good. Im pretty sure intel will keep pushing new stuff in order that people forget about this meltdown problem because they cant fix it, those models are just too deep broken.
"I understand your feelings" no you dont, and stop telling people to stop using something just because they expect quality and responsibility from manufacturers.

Except that it's not that simple. No amount of pre-release testing can guarantee the finding of fringe, real-life edge cases. That's just the nature of things. And it's not just Intel that ends up with these types of issues. Any hardware or software manufacturer can make mistakes that only show up after release, and sadly, there is no perfect debugging or testing method. It's just not a realistic expectation. All that can be done is to learn from the mistakes and try and avoid them next time around, which Intel is actively trying to do.

Streets of Rogue has to be one of the funniest co-op gameplay experiences I've had lately

This game is insane fun. It's tough as nails, though.

Everybody's talking about betas and crashes... How about the own-goalers and loners? I can't go a single round without these bastards ruining it for me. This game's community has turned into a toxic mess of pompous pricks and trolls. Until this is addressed, this game is dead to me.

The soundtrack gives me major Batman Beyond vibes. Loving the gameplay in this video. Reminds me of the days when I'd play Descent at my friend's house when I was a kid.
