Valve puts up Proton 5.13-4 to get Cyberpunk 2077 working on Linux for AMD GPUs

You realize that you just called Valve a cheap company? They outsource most (or all?) of their Linux work.

I believe shmerl was referring to CDPR being cheap, since the port wasn't done internally, not Valve.

Never heard of QLOC but it seems they had their hands on quite a few games. Either way I'm not in a rush for this game so by the time I get to play it, it will most likely be better optimized and runs close to native in vkd3d.

I'm probably one of the few people not excited for this game. All thanks to those skins that require galaxy to activate (My Rewards items).

Otherwise I could forgive painfully playing this game on my 5500XT until I get rid of Nvidia in favor of the 6800XT.

The road to Wine 6.0 begins with a first Release Candidate

Quoting: Avehicle7887Do these now work out of the box with no workarounds or extra downloads?

If you have Colin McRae Rally 04 could you give it a try please? The game itself works fine, but the videos however don't. Last week I managed to get them working through the use of LAVfilters (https://github.com/Nevcairiel/LAVFilters) but without sound.

Maybe you'll have better luck than me at this

Wait a moment

Loading...........

But still need lav filters

Do you get sound and if so which overrides did you use?

Thanks :)

Mesa 20.3.0 is out bringing tons of improvements for Linux open source graphics drivers

Started playing around with Lavapipe, initial impressions are very good. vkQuake1 performs almost twice as faster than Swiftshader already. One drawback I noticed with Lavapipe is that Anisotropic doesn't work in this game, screenshot below has been taken using same settings at 3840x1080 with Anisotropic off:

Don't expect to be playing any recent Vulkan titles or pairing with DXVK yet, but maybe one day

EDIT: Another small discovery, even though this is software based Vulkan, you can't run it on Nvidia drivers (boring).

Unreal Engine 4.26 rolls out with lots of Linux improvements, drops OpenGL for Vulkan

Proper Vulkan support on UE4 should be a big plus for better cross platform support. Here's hoping that Vulkan on Linux is now as fast as Windows, otherwise dropping OpenGL would be a step back.

Metro Exodus is still planned to release for Linux and macOS

Personally I'm fine with Metro being wrapped in dxvk. Performance should still be faster than Wine as it's bypassing that overhead.

Unfortunately Vulkan Ray Tracing was finished only recently, even worse only Nvidia supports it at the time. So it's understandable devs cannot wait for that feature, goes without saying that the studio has to move on to newer projects in order to survive.

Now that Vulkan has RT, here's hoping the studio will switch to it instead of persisting with DX12, that would be a mistake.

Nice to see it still coming, personally I finished including DLC through Wine, this will be an excuse to re play it.

The game is awesome and worth every penny.

AMD Radeon RX 6800 and the RX 6800 XT are out today

Quoting: ShmerlVery nice. If only they'd be available in stores :)

Seems like the scalpers are already all over ebay, and they're opening the box too.

Much as I want the card, I'm going to wait for proper prices. My only chance of getting one is through e-tailers, Malta is a country of Nvidia fanboys, the shops here barely stock AMD GPUs, sometimes even Ryzens are lacking.

Even more performance from the RX 6800 cards: https://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=rx6800-more-performance&num=1

I can't wait to get my hands on one of them.
