The Force Engine for Star Wars Dark Forces improves Steam Deck & Linux support

Here's a portable pre-compiled binary of the latest version. I tried to include all the important dependencies however you may still require to install some of them for your distro. You can run the "depcheck.sh" file, it will print all the libraries the game is still missing.

Game files are not included of course.

I'm ashamed to say that as a 90's kid I only had ever played the first level back in the day, I guess I wasn't a big Star Wars fan. The game looks amazing at high resolution, I've been playing it for several hours and thoroughly enjoying it.

Supports ultrawide too

Quoting: ShmerlPerformance experience with DX12 version is really bad. DX11 one works well.

Just gave it a shot with the newly released vkd3d-proton 2.8, game loads fine however fps is very unstable compared to dx11.

I'd say right now the only reason to use the DX12 version is to enable FSR2.

For non steam-deck users you can also run the DX11 exe directly located in "game_folder/bin/x64/witcher3.exe".

Meanwhile the DX12 exe is located in "game_folder/bin/x64_dx12/witcher3.exe".

Looks nice, would play if it didn't require you to install Steam to download it.

EA AntiCheat could spell trouble for Steam Deck / Linux

To me EA died a longtime ago.

The latest game I own published by them is the first Dragon Age.

I like their old games better. So this doesn't affect me minimally.

This game has been abandoned by the devs on GoG, still sitting at v6.0 as opposed to v7.0 on Steam
