intro movies in Ghostrunner, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night and Remnant: From the Ashes (it UE4 games) now works fine on my machine after ee0e10be895fa4e2660917ff87013212fd547a94

That was the first thing I noticed. If it indeed fixes movie playback for so many games without needing external patches then this is quite an exciting release.

Happy Birthday GOL

I remember switching to full time Linux in 2014. This site was amazing even at that time.

Some Steam Decks ship with an x2 SSD instead of an x4 SSD

I don't think many people will complain about this, however I can see someone still might that they got an inferior product while paying the same price as the better one.

This isn't just with the Steam deck though. I see a similar thing in Dell laptops, different PCIe speeds and even different brands.

I guess everyone and their mother now wants a slice of Deck's pie.

This project seems rushed to me. Shipping in 2 months on a device there's very little details about.

They may list SteamOS as supported but I wonder how much it actually supports it. With the Deck you have pretty much complete control over the device's hardware. How much of that will be true on this device is yet to be seen.

Also Full HD on a 8" display seems like a potential battery drain and performance killer. This is something else Valve did better by going with 800p right away.

What a nice addition to the list of open-source engine re-implementations.

Looks like this is my excuse to playthrough this game.

Had this laptop been available in Europe, I'd be very tempted to buy it.

I for one would love to see how thermals behave under load.

Regarding Alien - Isolation. I've already sunk 2hrs with the Windows version from GOG.

No issues so far, ingame videos work and great performance with dxvk (limited the game to 165fps manually).

I was interested in this game until I started reading about the pay2win crap they filled it with.

Old World from the Civilization IV designer releases on Steam along with Linux support

Quoting: GuestOr is it because they don't provide their Galaxy thing for Linux? Why another game launcher if it still possible to download the binary from their website.

In today's launchers (be it Galaxy, Steam, Epic etc) there is more than just a game downloader. Some common features I can think of are the Multiplayer interface (user login authentication and network access) and Cloud savings.

Such integration is usually done through an API, which for Linux it isn't available. Technically the dev can work around this by offering a Singleplayer only version of the game, doing so though requires some work which might not be economically viable.

Windows compatibility layer Wine 7.9 is now available

Quoting: deathxxxYes yes... but Steam still using wine 7.0.

While that's true, doesn't it have custom patches which are not available in more recent Wine releases?
