Quoting: Power-Metal-GamesIt's Ubuntu 18.04. I assure you that I tried every possible thing I found on the internet and NOTHING worked. Not a big thing because I work every day so it's better not to play at all. :D I will just wait a little and reinstall the OS.

Wasn't there a bug and in the Ubuntu 18.04 Steam package? (Not the first time I got the impression installing Steam on Debian is easier than on Ubuntu...)

There is something that definitely prevents it from installing. But anyway, big thanks to all of you trying to help. This a great community. I almost regret that I mentioned that problem. :D

Did you try the flathub package?

Quoting: LeopardI'm just asking that can you see DXVK HUD with that launch option.

I'm already playing AC1 via DXVK since D3D10 ( 0.72 i guess ) support added to it. But it needs d3dcompiler_43 which is a prop MS compiler that you can't distribute with Wine. So i wonder if it really works with DXVK or Wine's own OGL implementation.

My AC1 is GOG version so i need that confirmation.

It just works and you can use DXVK HUD to be sure you launched the directx10 version.

Quoting: Leopard
Quoting: legluondunetAssassin's Creed 1 Director's Cut finally launches in dx10 mode without any tweak, just launch the game and play!
It should be soon whitelisted.

Can you confirm it works with DXVK?

It just works with Proton 3.16, it launches the directx10 version per default.
You can verify that DXVK is active with add this in the Steam game launch option:
DXVK_HUD=version,devinfo,fps %command%

Wine 3.18 is out with subpixel font rendering and a healthy dose of bugs squashed

Big changelog, a lot of important bugs corrected.
"45680 Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 (SP1) fails to install in 64-bit WINEPREFIX"
When Proton will integrate this version, we should install and play games that use .Net 3.5 (L.A. Noire, Batman...).

QuoteDXVK's d3d10 mode is now enabled by default.

Does not work for me, Bioshock 1 starts in directx9 mode and I can not activate directx10 from graphic menu options.
I verified my Steam config and it already uses Proton 3-16 beta version per default.

The recent Steam Play beta is now out for everyone, plus a minor beta update

Proton has a feature I waited for several years in Wine: scaling a fullscreen game in a window fited to your desktop resolution, with ratio and with the ability to alt+tab, whatever the resolution it uses. Wine has not yet this feature even in staging hasn't it?
