and f*ck you Goolag altogether!

Why the hate? Out of all the big companies, Google is the most respectful of open source, and the only big company that always supported Linux with their tools.

Maybe because Microsoft has only one operating system to work on, while Google for some mysterious reason has three?

Quoting: Purple Library GuyI suspect a basic problem with the way user research works is that "easier to learn" is often not the same as "more effective to use". So you show people various ways of doing things and they're like "I get this one right away!" and you decide the User Has Spoken and you get something that isn't that great once people have it up and running for a while.

Yeah, and I guess in this case the people they chose to do their research on are mostly MacOS users and they gave those research users more weight than their existing user base.
The sad thing is that Gnome was the only DE with vertical layout, so there is no alternative to jump to that I know of. Let's hope someone forks it.

Google: Let's re-invent the wheel and create our own unique OS.
*later on*
Google: Ops, we need more of the standard stuff working. Let's hack things together and make our own OS look more like a standard Linux.

Seriously, why?

FNA dev and porter Ethan Lee stops future macOS ports, Linux to be their focus

Interesting that they favored Linux despite having smaller market. Is this related to Apple's ARM switch? Or could it be related to Linux actually having bigger market when you include Stadia?

Atari VCS games really are just plain Linux desktop builds

Excellent news. A locked customized OS is that last thing we want to see. Normal Linux distro with some customzied UI is all we need.

Quoting: M@GOidThey cornered themselves badly with those prices. $390 bucks is PS5 money, and a XB Series S is $300.

They need a $150 price tag fast or this thing will be a collectors thing in a couple months.
From my understanding, the Atari VCS is somewhere spec wise between the PS4 and PS4 Pro. There is no way they could sell it for 150. PS4s are still selling for 300-400. (Okay, just checked Amazon, some of the bundles are 640!)

So the price is probably about right actually. It is abkut as available to order as the PS5 is too... :p

Not accurate. The GPU is far from being on par with PS4, let alone PS4 Pro. If I remember correctly, the GPU is around half the performance of PS4, if not even less than that.
This is a machine designed for indie games so don't expect any graphics beyond what a Wii U can achieve, though that's not necessarily a bad thing, there is still a big market for indie games and they can compete against traditional consoles with price and availability of those indie games.

Purism reveal their powerful privacy-focused Librem 14 laptop

Quoting: EhvisYou're paying quite the premium for those privacy features though. Did a quick check on what it would cost to have it "here" (including VAT and such), it would be about 40% more expensive than a locally available laptop of similar specs. For that difference I would sort out my own privacy settings.

If your time is worthless, yes. But if you count your time for what it's worth then sorting out your own privacy settings would cost you more than the 40%, and you might still not be able to get the same level of security.
