Quoting: sarmadIs this driver better than valve's own driver? Valve's driver doesn't work out of the box and you have to tinker with udev files to get it to actually behave like a normal controller (for games that has built in controller support).

I don't know about other distros, but for Ubuntu and derivatives, you can install `steam-devices`, and everything should work just fine.
I am on Ubuntu as well, and no, installing `steam-devices` is not enough to get the controller to work for all games. There are still games that require tinkering with udev files.

QuoteSomething along the lines of: if you plug in a bootable external USB drive our hypervisor will boot from it, otherwise it will boot the internal Atari OS.
LOL. If I interpret it correctly - hypervisor means that "other OS" will be started as VM in KVM/Xen hypervisor. It means no real GPU acceleration in VM.
Not necessarily. They said it will boot either of the two OSes and that's different from booting the main OS, and then booting the other OS inside. If Atari OS is not even loaded then all the hardwares, including the GPU, will be available directly to the guest OS to use and you should get native performance.

However, for me I prefer the path Steam Machines took, which is a very open standard Linux distro with Steam Client on top of it. That is more attractive for Linux users than a closed system that is compatible with Linux APIs. Also, with Proton Steam Machines become way more attractive. I wish AtariVCS all the success nonetheless.

How can you play a game from Humble Bundle through Proton?

There are few issues that need to be resolved before Linux can be mainstream:
1- More hardware vendors provide Linux laptops as an option.
2- Some big retailers start providing Linux laptops.
3- AMD laptops become widely available.
4- Proton matures more.

3 & 4 are not far from happening. 1 & 2 are the tough ones. But if all 4 happen, expect linux usage on steam to quickly rise.

Quoting: sarmadIs there a way in Steam to search for games and filter out the ones that don't work on Linux, neither natively nor through Steam Play?

Look here for Steamplay compatibility:

Wow, nice. It's a bummer that Valve isn't providing the filtering itself. I mean, they already have the white listing feature, so why don't thy give an option to filter search result by whitelisting status?

Valve have released some interesting statistics about controller use

It's been many years since the Steam Controller has released and on Linux it still doesn't work out-of-the-box, at least on Ubuntu it doesn't. You always have to tweak system configuration files to get the controller to work. In addition to that, Steam Controller doesn't hot plug into the game, you always have to restart the game to get it to recognize the controller and if you leave the controller idle for a while that it powers off you'll have to restart the game as well, though I'm not sure if other controllers work any better.

Quoting: Saulsecsiramirez Guess you can say this is picking up steam. ?

I think we can safely say that. After just a week there are already 771 issues created and 26 pull requests. You can't easily find projects with this much activity so early.
