OTON X claims to be the first artificial intelligent games console, it's powered by Linux

What does "artificial intelligent games console" even mean?

Sadly it looks like Shadow Warrior 2 won't be a day-1 Linux release

This is clearly a sign that the game won't see a Linux release at all.

The Linux version of the Unity3D editor has been updated

Quoting: sarmadYup, very frustrating. My guess is that it's not a bug, it's that they are doing something fundamentally wrong and fixing it requires a big refactor of the code. My guess is that they have a loop for updating things in the background instead of depending on events.

Well I just found the fix, not entirely satisfying but my ears are grateful. I open the about window, resize it to minimum and shove it to the bottom right corner of the screen. It keeps the CPU calm and the fans quiet. :-)

Interesting. Thanks for the tip, and the article. Just tried it and it works. My CPU is thankful to you :)
FYI, Instead of resizing and shoving to the corner of the screen, I simply threw the About window to a different virtual desktop and I got the same effect.

Quoting: sarmadI am using Unity Editor on Linux at work. It works, but with issues compared to the MacOS version (haven't tried the Windows version). The biggest annoyance is that it idles at 100% cpu usage! They know about this issue already but haven't fixed it yet. I am now downloading the new version to see if it resolves that issue.

Fast forward two months and the issue is still here... :-/

Linux desktop marketshare has grown for three consecutive months
4 August 2016 at 7:17 pm UTC

My guess is that the rise is too big to be accurate. 0.33% probably means millions of new users and that's simply too big to happen in one month. Still good to see though.

Rust has now sold over 30 thousand copies on Linux
21 July 2016 at 12:24 am UTC

Why would he say it wasn't worth it? At 20$ the Linux sales amount to more 600k$. I doubt porting a game built with Unity3d would cost more than 100k$ at most, which means half a million dollars extra profit.

GDC Europe survey shows 17% of developers plan to release Linux titles
19 July 2016 at 12:23 am UTC

17% is pretty good considering the lack of marketting or interest on Valve's side, but it's most probably less than it used to be a year ago. I remember seeing roughly 20% or more of the latest released titles on Steam supporting Linux, but at this moment out of the latest 100 games released on Steam only 13 of them support Linux.

New Steam Client Beta adds fixes for 'upcoming' Vulkan games

Quoting: ShmerlAlso, I expect in the future it will be much easier for Wine to implement DX12 → Vulkan translation, than all the humongous effort for DX → OpenGL. And Vulkan based Windows games should be even more straightforward.

Quoting: sarmadIf Doom is already going to support Vulkan, why not support Linux as well?

Because it's Bethesda. Times of idSoftware are long gone.
This, like I've said before, there's a lot more to a game than a graphics API. Anyone who says Vulkan will make more Linux ports is just wrong.

How much of that "more" is platform dependent though? I'm guessing not much.

If Doom is already going to support Vulkan, why not support Linux as well? What else is remaining that they refuse to support Linux? I'm pretty sure the remaining work is about one week of work or so, and I'm pretty sure the tiny Linux market will cover that one week of work and make some profit as well.
