Valve upgrade the Steam browsing experience in the latest Steam Labs experiment

Quoting: SchattenspiegelWay to many options and unclear categorys for fast navigation. The idea is good but the execution makes it not very useful. They would get a much better result in terms of discoverability if they made the browsing experience faster again and decluttered the UI.

Indeed. Since I am stuck with 8GB of RAM, I also notice the Steam Client is eating a awful lot of RAM for a game manager, over 500MB. Making it Chromium-based caused that.

I downloaded it and indeed it looks and plays lovely. Added to my wishlist.

My only grips are the music is kinda annoying and the performance is bad for such simple game, typical from the combination of Unity engine and novice developers.

Quoting: scratchiThe music in that video is sick! I'm gonna get this just for the sound track. Actually the gameplay looks cool too, but I really love that tune :D

Really? For a moment I thought they had a codec problem since it looked waaay too distorted for me.

This may be a result of their port on Stadia. Lets hope more games migrate from there to Desktop Linux.

Re-live the experience of Half-Life with Black Mesa: Definitive Edition out now

Such a poor Linux port. Is ridiculous that it didn't have multi-core rendering enable, leading to very poor performance compared to other Valve Source games, nor allow any major change in the graphic settings without crashing. It have been like this for years and those patches never changed the mentioned problems. And judging by the behavior of the developers, it will never be fixed.

I advice against spending money on this, just for the lack of respect to the Linux community.

Valve expand Steam Input to support more of the PS5 DualSense Controller

Quoting: subReally happy with mine.
Was hoping they'll come up with a new version after stopping production.

Mine has starting problems after four years when I want to use it wireless with the USB dongle or via Bluetooth. It simply switches off again immediately. Sometimes it stays on and then works as usual. Most of the time it works when I connect it for a minute with a cable.

I have another one in reserve, but it is my last one. My muscle memory for many games is tied to the controller. This is also true for one of my favorite games: Hollow Knight.

It feels bad that it is no longer officially for sale. I could retrain myself. But the other controllers are kind of boring. I'm not a friend of force feedback either (except for steering wheels). For me this is just a gimmick. It is quite cool in the beginning but you get tired of it very quickly. Most of the time I turned it off. And without FF, Sony's new controller doesn't really bring anything new.

Take a look at the batteries contacts. What you describe looks like it isn't receiving energy from the batteries. If you cannot disassembly it for a thorough cleaning, try contact cleaning spray, or isopropyl alcohol to clean the contacts with q-tips.

Quoting: denyasisI'm sure I'm in the minority here, but that is one ugly looking controller.

You and me brother. But don't dismiss it by the looks alone, first reviews are very positive towards it.

Quoting: KROMI'm still having a hard time with bluetooth controllers, as they always lose connection after a few minutes. Anyone knows a special trick to make it work?

What is your setup? USB Bluetooth dongle, WiFi/BT card combo? And what controllers do you have problems with?

Here my Intel wifi card doesn't work well with BT devices on my desktop, despite a external antenna outside and above the case. WiFi connection works fine tough.

My Dualshock 4 works fine with a generic USB BT dongle, but this is on a USB hub within line of sight to the controller, since BT is a weak signal and needs the devices to be nearby and unobstructed. Also, BT dongles cannot work well when plugged to a metallic chassis or hub.

My XBone Controller on the other hand, had never worked well in any BT connection that I have and after a update on the BT Linux stack, got completely unusable wirelessly. There was a huge Bluetooth vulnerability a month ago, so the fix screwed this controller for me.

Go sight seeing in the American Truck Simulator - Colorado expansion out now

Quoting: CFWhitmanWhat I would enjoy with the Truck Simulator series is a 'free drive' mode where you could just drive the roads without worrying about the business simulation. Does this exist? I haven't investigated thoroughly as to whether or not this is possible in these games. It could be interesting for those who just want to virtually explore different parts of the country/world that these games cover.

As long as you had money in the game, you can do whatever you want. Heck, you can even disable fines and blow away red light and speed limits.

Since in the game I am a millionaire, I just drive around to grey areas in the map (the ones you hadn't passed by yet), buying and customizing new trucks as I see fit.

Steam adds initial PS5 DualSense controller support, improves Xbox Series X

Quoting: M@GOidValve adding the controllers must not be seen as a guarantee those will work in all games. Some games, mostly older ones, tried to implement their own support for gamepads and only work correctly with the XB360/Logitech ones. XBOne and PS4 gamepads still don't work correctly to this day in a number of titles.

They should as Valve emulates the original XBox 360 (xinput). If its not working for you then you might simply need to go into your controllers setting in Steam and enable "Configuration support" for said controller. Optionally you can enable that on a per-game basis. I've not found a single game that does not work with my PS3, Switch, Steam Controller or the couple of generics I have as well. Even my classic MS SideWinder Game Pad Pro works with modern games through Steam and also via Steam Link.

I'm familiar with Steam XB360 emulation. In some games it have the strange effect of double input. Examples of this are Assault Android Cactus and Skyforce Reloaded. In both it have the effect of one joypad controlling 2 players.
