The funny thing about using Qt applications in a Gnome environment... they don't react well to HiDPI. So if I do some monitor switching on my laptop, suddenly the Qt application's fonts go mega-huge. I've also noticed that when using restart/power off, they will die instantly, and then you have to tell the system to restart/power off again because the dialog doesn't open. Steam does this as well, though I don't think it's a Qt or GTK based application, not entirely sure what widget it uses, I think it's kind of it's own thing...
Steam is now available as a Flatpak app via Flathub

I kind of view flatpak as being a far more useful version of docker. Or more appropriately more useful for certain things. Like "Oh, I want a newer python, let's use docker." That would be better served by a flatpak. Docker is better for something that has a bit more dependencies to it, like an apache server with a web application.
Steam is a perfect example of a flatpak. I installed a newer version of gnome-builder on Debian via flatpak as well.
The funny thing is flatpak and snappy came out around the same time... but since snappy is Ubuntu based, I bet you no one outside of Ubuntu adopts it's usage (though I think in typical Debian fashion, they packaged up both just in case).
I just installed a newer 'gnome-games' in Debian, since it currently has only 3.22 in the repositories, and it's a fast moving target as far as what platforms it supports. Really gnome-games is pretty genius itself and will read the steam games, plus a ton of emulators. Now if they could integrate it with the GoG library...

Quoting: TheRiddickLMAO, I hate being right sometimes.
Large texture sizes is a big problem with OpenGL with its amazingly low Limit of 750MB or so on 32bit apps! DX9 32bit has a limit of 4GB on windows8+ (is unlimited on Win7). Truly it is a troubling issue that makes no sense to me.
If you plan to make a HD graphics game, for the love of god start with a 64bit exe or face major consequences!

Isn't that a pretty uncommonly high resolution? What GPU do you have? I'm installing the game now, and will be testing it today, and tomorrow I have a 2560x1440 monitor showing up tomorrow.

Quoting: EhvisUnfortunately, the game is completely unplayable at higher resolutions. It only lets me play at 3440x1440. Within reasonable settings I can't break 15 fps. At max setting I'm actually down to 1-2 fps. It's actually shocking to see how hard this game hits the GPU. Like nothing before.

I tried the other day to install a docker image and get a server running, but then got annoyed with docker and ended up with a docker of Minecraft instead.... though I think I'd rather play this.

Same method should work to find which package it is you need. Which Distribution are you running? Should still be libicu55 instead of libicu57.

I'm having the same issue with missing dependencies as other have reported, my version of the library is 55 not 57.

Quoting: jkaartGood launcher but I get "./launcher: error while loading shared libraries: libicui18n.so.57: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" error in Ubuntu 16.04. :(
On my Debian Stretch system, this is in libicu57.
sudo apt install apt-file
sudo apt-file update
apt-file search libicui18n.so.57
StarCrawlers, a gritty spacepunk dungeon crawler has released and it's looking good

Yeah, it stinks that we are not getting a Legend of Grimrock 2 port. It looked pretty good for the tiny amount I played it. I have been thinking of going through the grandaddy of all Dungeon Crawlers, Dungeon Master again, just so I can then transfer my characters over to Chaos Strikes back, and finally beat that.

I actually learned it was 'Cute' when following all of the nonsense around Nokia, the N900 -> N9 -> Windows Phone -> End of Nokia as we know it, debacle. For those that weren't paying attention to that, the old Nokia Internet Tablets were all GTK based, but then they bought Trolltech, started making everything on Symbian / MeeGo based on Qt, and then it all went up in smoke... so sad, they had such potential, but jerks were too weak to pull it off, gave up and sold off to MS, which then failed miserably trying to push Windows Phone, which also doesn't support Vulkan :P
It's kind of cool that they switched away from WxWidgets to something more modern, but Qt still seems out of place in a Gnome environment. The opposite usually isn't true though (GTK2/3 in a KDE environment.)
Still, looking forward to a Dolphin-VR port for Linux.

Quoting: johndoe86xSomewhat related, in the same announcement they also mentioned the switch from WxWidgets to Qt! (Also, I learned it's pronounced "cute" instead of "que-tee")

Sweet, this should mean the VR branch should gain support for SteamVR+Linux as well.
Metroid in VR was pretty cool, that's the only one I've tested though.
