Isometric destruction-heavy Brigador: Up-Armored Edition has launched on Linux, some thoughts

Game looks a lot like an old game called Bedlam ( http://www.mobygames.com/game/windows/bedlam ) that I used to play.

I got it through the humble monthly bundle, will have to check it out when it's fixed.

SteamVR updated with experimental Linux support for SteamVR Home

Would be nice if Debian Stretch would get the newer nVidia drivers so it'd work out of the box. Not sure if they have plans to do so or not yet.

I test mine out in Arch Linux, and basically we just need more games / engines with Vulkan support.

I also noticed that SteamVR for Linux is no longer in a 'beta' channel.

I think it was the second player's that wouldn't work right, and through the Steam Link most likely. I'll have to give it a shot again, it's been awhile.

Did they fix the game pad set up? My brother and I were planning on playing this co-op, but it seemed the game pad setup was broken.

QuoteAll characters had some standard things you could ask, NAME, HELLO, HEALTH, JOB, BYE. Then each had 2 specific things to ask, with some special characters knowing 3 or 4.

Even I don't talk to people like that.

ha ha! Forget using 'lol' or 'omg'. You could just shorten every word to 4 characters. 'Hell, what your name?' All great words are only four letters anyhow.

Seems the Linux version of Cossacks 3 is not a myth, as I now have access

For those that never played Myth, it plays much like an RTS, but you have a limited number of units per level, you can't just crank out new ones. All of the terrain (like it says in cossacks 3) is useful for determining tactics (place your archers up on a hill so they have further range, while your melee fighters run up to protect them), also your surviving soldiers gain ranks and skills, so you try harder to keep them alive.

I've found that most standard RTS games are just a matter of who can click faster, and knows the tech tree the best.

Then have a look at Deadhold. It's made by mappers from the Myth community and it just feels like a spiritual successor. Oh and they're targeting Linux too!

That looks awesome!! Added to wish list.

I wonder how many other games had that. I do remember that Ultima IV had only four character limits. (at least on the Atari 8-bit line). So typing SACR was the same as asking for 'Sacrifice'. All characters had some standard things you could ask, NAME, HELLO, HEALTH, JOB, BYE. Then each had 2 specific things to ask, with some special characters knowing 3 or 4.

I played with that game far too much... ha! it's when I figured out how to hex edit characters and the world..

lol
Only to NPC.
ofc

Yeah, none of us like talking to people (in reality). We're Linux users and Gamers. That's like a double whammy as far as socializing with our fellow Earthlings.

I still maintain that the Ultimas (specifically 4 and 5) had the best NPC system. You didn't have any hints on what to say to people and had to actually talk/type to the NPCs. 6 was similar, but they had highlighted words suggested to say to people during conversations, then 7+ just had selection menus...

I can't think of any other games since those had any real interaction with NPCs.

I wonder what happened to that portable Steam Machine that was going to be AMD based. That would be phenomenal.

The SMACH Zero... everything says it was supposed to be released Q4 of 2016... would love one myself.
