Possess the bodies of your dead enemies in MidBoss, coming to Linux on May 25th

Looks great, like some of the old games on the ST/Amiga.

Seems the Linux version of Cossacks 3 is not a myth, as I now have access

Looks awesome, wish we could get another Myth style game though. I mean how many standard RTS games can one want?

For those that never played Myth, it plays much like an RTS, but you have a limited number of units per level, you can't just crank out new ones. All of the terrain (like it says in cossacks 3) is useful for determining tactics (place your archers up on a hill so they have further range, while your melee fighters run up to protect them), also your surviving soldiers gain ranks and skills, so you try harder to keep them alive.

I've found that most standard RTS games are just a matter of who can click faster, and knows the tech tree the best.

EVERSPACE to launch without Linux support, NVIDIA driver bugs are part of the problem
18 May 2017 at 10:12 pm UTC

I wonder if this is the same / similar bug to what causes Ark to freak out when there are too many shiny things, making more shiny things.

This game looks impressive... BUT, it also says it supports VR, yet says best played with keyboard/mouse. Nothing in VR is best played with keyboard/mouse, fumbling around with a headset on your head until you can touch the nobs that are hopefully on your index fingers for the keys... then reaching over to the mouse, then back...

Hopefully they implement Flight sticks, and walking around the cockpit for VR, and most importantly get Vulkan in there so we can get Linux VR support!

An update on the Xenonauts Linux port that's only for 'legacy customers'

Quoting: STiATIf they can not give support to customers in Linux, I think it's very fair telling the potential customers that they can't expect support for the game on their platform if they buy it.

And they spoke frankly, and didn't hide behind bullshit. That's a sound and good reason to do what they did, and I respect that.

Ha, Yeah, at least they didn't say 'fuck you, that's why.' Pretty sure there have been some developers that have done that.

Hopefully part two will not be a case where they click a button in Unity and that's their 'support'. But it sounds like they plan on proper support.

I love that Paradox supports Linux, but damn are they one of the worse offenders of DLC...

BATTLETECH, the turn-based mech battler from Harebrained Schemes has a new trailer

Message to the devels: please add a "Sniper" type Mech that can only fire from long distance. Maybe a one that has a shape like two legs and a big cannon over it.

I'm sure the big cannon over two legs is a phallic reference, but if you're after sniper setups, they don't really have them in Battletech. It's a massive mechanical battle machine, not something easily hidden. The closest you'll get is something packed with gauss rifles and LRMs. Or 'mech mounted longtom artillery.
Inner Sphere combat from the era they're setting it in is particularly close quarters (relatively speaking) and brutal. Also, anything with enough tonnage to field lots of and only long range weaponry had a tendency to get torn apart by smaller 'mechs that could out-manoeuvre, close the distance, and open up on weaker rear armour.

It's been many moons, but I swear they had a 'sniper' type, but as you said, it was basically a cannon you would have sit back and fire like artillery more than a nice quick sniper attack, then hide type of tactic.

The great thing about this game is that it's hard core Battletech+mechwarrior from all that I've seen, it's not like the Mechwarrior games, which were real time. Used to love the board game, it's like a more complex version of Ogre, which I wish Steve Jackson would create (or allow to be created) a new version of that game for the computer. I do still have my original Atari ST version laying around...

NVIDIA 381.22 driver released with lots of bug fixes and newer Vulkan support

Any time I've seen the 'game optimizations' they are just settings that nVidia thinks are the optimum. I thought all the settings within Ghost Recon: Wildlands were the same, but I swear it performs worse after I clicked the 'optimize' button in the Geforce Experience application.

Steam Audio comes to Unreal Engine 4

Quoting: slaapliedjeI wonder if they fixed the Steam Audio for Dyimg Light yet.

You have to tweak settings, or it says your microphone is making too much noise, and you will draw zombies toward you. Funny thing is, it isn't muting it, it is like the motherboard mic input has to be left at full volume, and you have to turn down the steam audio mic.

They fixed that, i was playing for 8 hours in a row with friend in coop, and it was the best experience i had with this game since i bought it. No problem with mic, solid 60 fps with max settings and zero network problems. Was really funny and perfect. We had to wait really long time but now game works perfect on multiplayer. Finally!

PD: btw, steam audio is not that. Steam audio is a new 3D audio, sounds that work with environment, raytracing, etc

Ah, okay, I thought it was like the in-game voice thingy.

Nice that they fixed that bug. We should get some of us Linux nerds together and play. I definitely could use some backup when taking out the Volatile caves in The Following.

Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues has another major update for RPG fans

I fire this game up every once in a while to see how far it's gone. Definitely one of those 'in dev limbo' games. But at least it's not like Godus where it just completely stopped and They decided to support a mobile version and some sort of multiplayer arena thing....

Well, I wouldn't say Shroud of the Avatar is in dev limbo, it's just taking it's sweet time for release.
