Edge Of Eternity, a beautiful indie tribute to J-RPG classics is waiting on Unity & Vulkan

Impressive, why is it that this looks so fantastic and Shrouds of the Avatar still looks like one of the older Gothic games? Pretty sure that one had higher funding on Kickstarter, but it is in the perpetual beta state.

Granted I have always been more of an Ultima fan than a Final Fantasy one.

The new 'Master of Orion' has a major update inspired by the original MOO2 and a new DLC

Ha, I haven't had time to play this or Stellaris yet. MOO 2 was fantastic though, I think I have it on GoG.

Quoting: InverseTelecineWhat I really want is an option to stream VR content from a Linux PC to the likes of Cardboard or GearVR using phones/tablets. I have a set up right now that I'm pretty happy with using a Samsung refurbished tablet (so no cellular contract) and a Homido VR goggle set that is big enough to fit the tablet. Works great and cost me about $250 for everything. I don't know of anything that can match that price for VR right now. The problem is all phone VR games are junk, and all the streaming from PC software I know of is windows only. Hopefully this will be an option soon, because I won't be able to afford Oculus/Vive anytime soon.

I initially got a GearVR for my Note 4. It was pretty cool, but I didn't even have much luck with any streaming from the computer to it. Netflix and the 360 video stuff is neat, but you are right, 'Mobile' gaming is crap, VR or not... give me back hardware buttons on a phone and gaming might be better...

Dread halls is pretty awesome, but the fact that Oculus Activities and Facebook Messenger somehow cheat and auto-update on my phone even though I tell the play store to ot auto update..

Anyhow, before phone / tablet to PC streaming becomes actually usable, we would probably want better wifi and more Vulkan support so it isn't yack city.

That and the difference between head tracking with goggles vs 'true' VR where you can interact with things... you just aren't going to get that from the cheaper things for years to come. Even the PS4 VR doesn't do that all that well.

Quoting: aLso does something work on steam on the vive on linux at the moment?

You got me excited there for a moment liam :/

Sure it does... if it is connected your login screen appears on it and you can use it like a monitor... if you can make yourself go cross-eyed. :)

At the moment that is all the vive does in Linux.

Quoting: slaapliedjeFor the love of the universe and all that is nature STOP with the goddamn "stylized" logos. This flat design is terrible! The icons on the stock Atari ST were terrible in 1985, and they are better than this new "stylized" crap.

Ok, so 'stylized' means virtually nothing in terms of graphic art.

I will agree with the small scale simple icons in the system tray and color complex icons elsewhere, but the move toward black and white flat icons that looked fine on a VCR does not work on an operating system. Windows 10 is an inconsistent mess with depending on how you open the control panel, you may end up with the old color icons or with the crappy simple ones.

I tend to think the simple less than 4 color logo being better for marketing / recognizability was dreamed up in some lazy art/marketing class somewhere. Anyone on the planet would recognize the Android icon now, and it isn't a simple 'flat' image. Granted most would still recognize Commodore and Atari logos of they saw them, and they are simple. Even more simple are ones like IBM and SEGA

Some examples, wven saw a face in there. Ha, the 'Social Life' one looks eerily similar to Ubuntu's.

I huess this would be more pertinent if SteamVR would do anything on Linux at the moment. Cool that they are adding more support for peripherals in general (like the recent PS4 controller support.) On that note, it would be spectacular if they added support for steering wheels. Being able to change the input gor games that really should support wheels but don't would rock! I can readily think of a few.

OS VR seemes awesome, though I already have a Vive that needs more play time!

Quoting: oldrocker99I use Tux (the most recognizable drawing, with a joystick added (GIMP, of course)) for my avatar. I think it's obvious to anyone who looks at the three logos that the penguin <3 represents Linux.

YES! More of the Tux with Joystick please!

Now, with that said...

I guess I do something really simple when choosing the games I buy. I pull up a list, and let my mouse hover over the image... and it'll show little icons of what system is supported. I never even knew what the SteamPlay thing was for, thought it had something to do with streaming support, but I always looked for the Tux, then the SteamOS icon.

Granted the real difference between Steam's icon and SteamOS is one is circular and one is square.

Also, Apple was a cooler company when their logo had color.

Quoting: Seegras370.28 is the newest here on Debian (unstable) anyway, as long as I don't decide to compile and build the packages myself. Usually I don't do that, unless there's a compelling reason to do so. Which there wasn't in that case anyway.

Was confused for a minute, 370.28 is in Experimental, unstable has 367.57.

Out of curiosity, do you have performance issues in Mad Max? Specifically in the area near Gastown (last area). Well or anyone else. I have the details set on Max, running a 1080GTX and in 1920x1080, but it stutters like a mofo in that area. All the garbage floating around, or something.

Quoting: fcastilloWhat if I'm using Steam Link? I've notice a lot of disconnection problems on the Link, and recently there was an announcement for an update to SteamOS that fixes this. I'm not using SteamOS just the client on Ubuntu, but I'm seeing this problems because of the Link. Any suggestions?

I have that weird issue where if I connect to my Linux Desktop from the Link, that it then screws up the permissions so the Steam Controller stops working, so I have to go back to my computer and run a chmod 666 on it again.

Would be nice if this was finally fixed.
