The shitty thing here is that once SteamVR is working on Linux, we'll still have to claw our way for support in the software releases. Niche of a Niche... though I think if they can show that UE4 and Unity based software can run better/faster/less power with Vulkan and natively under Linux, we may have a decent chance of being to out lap Windows gamers. From what I've seen, probably 80% of all the games written for the Vive use UE4 or Unity, so that helps.
Satellite Reign co-op mode now in the stable build, and the game is 50% off

I was on the kickstarter for this game, and it's awesome. The developers weren't sure they were ever going to be able to add in multiplayer, so it wasn't even one of their stretch goals. It's great to see they're obviously doing well with this game, if they're adding in such a huge thing.

It actually supports normal movement as well, but it's quite a bit more vomit worthy. Good test if it'll make you yack or not is Windlands. It gave me more of a 'holy crap, I'm flying... and falling' feeling than 'if you're going to spew, spew into this' feeling.

Quoting: bubexelMinecraft for vive use teletransportation and vive controllers integration
Edit: ops! and roomscale

Elite: Dangerous is fantastic on the Vive, as is Project Cars. There aren't many that are fully native, but Minecraft has a Vive mod that is fantastic (if you're into that) and Legends of Dungeon is really awesome in VR.
We're getting there though, Raw Data was released today, and while Brookhaven Experiment is just a wave based game, it is pretty fun.

Heavy Gear Assault now on Linux, some thoughts after testing it

I believe there was a Heavy Gear 2 that had a Native Linux version published by Loki.

I ordered this when it said two copies, so whomever gets it first, good luck! Hopefully it works on a modern system :D If I recall it was a 3dfx accelerated one back in the day (I think it came with the Voodoo 2 that I had, or maybe that was the first one)

Quoting: nattydreadI remember playing the original Heavy Gear 1997 game on windows (I know) which was pretty good for its time. I'll keep my eye on this one.

This game is pretty cool, I've been able to play a bit of it. Nice to see it isn't one that is going to be in Early Access for a billion years like some things (I'm looking at you, 7 Days to Die).
Black Mesa developer shoots down anti-Linux troll, confirms Linux version is in progress

Yeah, I'm not sure what the difference is. I recall asking the original project for a Linux release, and they claimed they had a bunch of custom stuff, so it wasn't a straight Source port. This kind of seems like a "Well, we got a lot of shit for trying to enable mods to be sold for Skyrim, but we'll sneak in that you can make 'standalone' modes and charge for them!' But then again, is a fully re-imaged version of Half-Life using the Source engine a mod, or a full game using a new engine? It's kind of border line. I mean you could argue that any game based on the engine of another is just a mod.
These are both in steam though, at least I think so unless they removed the original one, or it got a new SteamID.

Quoting: SlackdogI seem to recall than on winblows there were two versions - the original freeware one and the paid for version. That still the case?

I have to admit I'm guilty to replying to that troll, and was also in the Mad Max Linux thread (which if it really is coming to Linux, I need it to so I can finish playing it!)
My favorite comment was the one quoted here about him also playing the Linux supported games in Linux... so.. you play them, but don't want more ports? Clearly an insane individual, or as stated some sort of Bot. I had pointed out several times in the thread that we didn't need the +1, because the whole thread was started by the Devs! Most 'could you port to Linux' threads are started by us as a community, I originally just wanted to thank them for porting to Linux and doing it before the port to macOS, which is the only platform I mostly find silly to port games to (especially the high end demanding ones, since as Palmer Lucky so pointedly remarked "We'll support them when Apple releases some decent hardware")
Speaking of that, it'd be kind of interesting, since most market share 'studies' are done with 'desktop' in mind, makes one wonder if they checked market share on 'gaming' computers. Would we actually have a larger share over Mac users?
I'm happy they've confirmed the port regardless of the troll. Granted would have been nice if they'd released it during the sale :D But then 20 bucks for it seems worth it anyhow.

Does that mean it's local co-op and works with the Steam Controller? Damnit, I was hoping not to spend anymore money on games for a while (I think I spent 250 bucks during the steam sale....plus ended up getting Hearts of Iron IV). But this looks/sounds awesome.

Quoting: SketchStickBeen playing this for 12 hours now with two steam controllers. I've encountered no platform specific bugs, the map is huge, the combat is brutal, the enemies are varied and exploring is fun. Highly recommended, although I should warn that with two players platforming gets tricky and you lose control over the camera. I've died from being unable to see my surroundings and/or falling, more times than I've died from actual combat.
