The latest Steam Hardware Survey shows a rather insignificant drop for Linux

Croteam are awesome. They even turned down the Facebook money to make the new Serious Sam VR game Oculus exclusive. Hopefully HTC/Valve get SteamVR working under Linux soon and I'll be able to play that under Linux.

20 Games Top Sellers, Only 5 Titles to Linux
Games like
DOOM,Rocket League,The Witcher 3,Dark Souls 3,Rise of The Tomb Raider etc
You think anyone who is a Pro GAMER etc, would switch to Linux?
For what? To play 2+ years old games and even with lower performance?
Like it or not thats the harsh true .
Linux still has a long road ahead and hopefully one day would be treated equaly in both new game releases and performance.
Those games are not available for Linux, not because of the small market share, is because the devs lack of the proper programming skills...
Is a simple fact: Is necessary to have a powerfull brain for to develop AAA games for Linux, and those devs don't have it. The only team of devs with the skills for that is Croteam. That's why The Talos Principle is the only AAA game available for Windows, Mac and Linux from day 1.

That's me. I have my old Steam account from my Windows era, and the new Steam account 100% Linux...
I am buying a lot of games again for to support the Linux ports...And I am buying new games only for the Linux account, like Dying Light, Alien isolation, Shadow of Mordor, Dead Island Definitive (and Riptide Definitive)

A new Civilization VI video shows off England, they aren't talking about the Linux release for now

I've been playing Civ since the original one on my Atari ST. Played the hell out of that and the second one. Civ 3 never caught my attention much, and I only have maybe finished a single game on Civ IV and V. The problem is the games last too long and I just don't have the time to dedicate to them.
But it saddens me when they remove a bunch of features that you could do in the earlier games. Then the fans complain, so they add them back in for expansions, which aren't free...
Kind of the sad thing about Paradox's strategy games. They tend to have WAY too much DLC.

I think you're absolutely correct. The builds of the ISO are automated. The only work that is required is when it's a non-x86 port, in which case there are potential areas of code clean up and such that are required. It's one of the reasons the Debian m68k port is Unofficial, but if it can still be supported by an off-shoot group, why can't Canonical keep on supporting i386? Probably because they don't give a crap about old hardware and are trying for the Server/Phone/Heavy Desktop arena.
Maybe I should vote they drop i386, this way more people will move to Debian proper :D

I love(d?) my N900, and wish that I could put Maemo on my Note 4. I've been really tempted to pick up the Neo900, but unfortunately by the time it's actually released, the hardware will be 4 years old...
More on topic, I'd be okay with Canonical dropping 64bit install disks as well. Since that'd leave us with no Ubunut, and I'd be okay with that.
Seriously, how much work does it actually take to create a i386 installer? They mostly just repackage Debian's stuff and modify it with Unity as the desktop with their very basic installer anyhow, which I believe is written in a non-architecture dependent language. I started following Ubuntu since it was first announced and tried the betas. But they've steered so far off course of their original intent (make a Debian based distribution with the latest Gnome, and a 6 month release schedule to follow that). Now they've really gone off the deep end with snap and Unity is terrible. In fact that's probably why the survey... they figure Unity will soon take more than 4GB of ram to run...

Quoting: boltronicsQuoting: SeegrasQuoting: boltronicsRemind me again why we still have i386? Oh yeah, because of the original EeePC ...
... which I use about once every week ;). But I'm running Debian on it. In fact, I run Debian everywhere except on my cellphone.
I've upgraded through three other laptops since then. And yes I do still use the EeePC - as a Shairport server (running Debian). But that's not the sort of thing I'd use Ubuntu for. I doubt the 800x480 screen is even compatible with a lot of modern software. Any kind of production server that's i386-only is surely out of warranty by now.
Incidentally, I ran a Debian derivative on my phone for years - the N900. Sadly it broke a few times, and it got too slow to load any kind of complex web-page so it had to go. But installing Python apps via apt-get on a phone with a hardware keyboard was so good.

This game reminds me of just a tiny part of the game Broadsides. If you haven't ever played that, please find it on an emulator and do so! This is a game that is screaming for a remake!

Imagining that with graphics like Winward and multiplayer makes me smile. May have to fire up my Atari 130XE soon and play it again.
more on topic, pretty sure I got this game through humble bundle previously. Good to hear it's coming to Linux!

Last time I actually saw any real support from the developers and not some modder/community member was for Ultima IX. That's right, EA sent me a patched installer disk because I registered the game!
Granted being a Linux user, I either figure out why through forums and such why something isn't working, or figure it out myself based on previous dealings with such things.
That's why I made my comment about support being a joke for video games on the PC in the first place.

Shame! Oddly enough I just tested out the starter edition of Diablo 3 for the first time today... I haven't played a Blizzard game in many years, but I finally let a dude I worked with talk me into playing WoW again, which I played twice, and was bored... I always preferred Diablo anyhow.

Quoting: zimplex1I'm gonna be honest... I bought Overwatch, and I can't stop playing it! So this pretty much breaks my 3+ year streak of only buying games that support Linux :-(. I just couldn't help it... It's soooo good.
