Valve Looks Like It's Removed The SteamOS Icon For Games That Work On Linux, But Not Perfectly On SteamOS

Figured it was, thought it was more funny than anything. I tried going back to even find that page and couldn't. I'm wondering why they changed the interface for big picture mode so drastically, I liked the way it looked before.

Valve Looks Like It's Removed The SteamOS Icon For Games That Work On Linux, But Not Perfectly On SteamOS

So, was just playing with my Steam Link, looking for a game to play, and in the list of 'new things' it showed Microsoft Flight Simulator X Steam Edition, and oddly showed the icons for Windows / Apple / SteamOS and the controller at the bottom! So I tried clicking something to get it to show, but pressing A to select did nothing on the Steam Controller. Then I hit Y, which made it disappear (should have taken a picture). So then I shut the Link off, sat in front of my computer to look it up in the Steam library and it shows only the Windows Icon.
Glitch, or is Flight Simulator X coming to Linux/Mac?

Steam Controller On Ubuntu, A Tweak You Need To Do

Going to try out Mark of the Ninja as soon as it's finished validating, I'm not sure why, but I've had to do that with three games I thought I had installed now (Chaos Engine (couldn't get it to detect anything), Superfrog (It'd move within the menus, but buttons wouldn't work) and Mark of the Ninja (currently downloading)).
Anyone else have much luck playing games under Linux with the Steam Controller? Within the controller settings in Steam itself all the buttons were tested as working.

Edit: Mark of the Ninja worked for me! First one under Linux I've tried so far where the controls worked perfectly.

Quoting: ricki42Has anyone tried playing Mark of the Ninja with the steam controller? Doesn't work for me. Guess I'll keep playing with the Logitech for now.

Steam Controller On Ubuntu, A Tweak You Need To Do

Ha, yeah I was going to say that the Arch Linux fix works for Debian Stretch, since they both use uinput now. Unfortunately I was having other issues with my Arch Linux install (not sure if it's due to my motherboard/memory/cpu upgrade or because I bought a new monitor, even though it's the same resolution as the other one was... gdm is having issues, oh well I'll fix that later.
Now to try to find games that actually SUPPORT the steam controller... Only one I've had it work on was Mortal Kombat X through the Steam Link (before I could get it working in Linux). So far only other one I kind of got to work was Runner 2. Just tried Superfrog HD and it didn't work there either (and for some reason stretched across three monitors).

Quoting: OllingI have the same problem. Try this as a wierd workaround:
[root@huginn ~]# ls -lath /dev/uinput
crw------- 1 root root 10, 223 17.10.2015 11:04 /dev/uinput
[root@huginn ~]# chown olling: /dev/uinput
[root@huginn ~]# ls -lath /dev/uinput
crw------- 1 olling users 10, 223 17.10.2015 11:04 /dev/uinput
[root@huginn ~]# cat /dev/uinput
cat: /dev/uinput: No such device
[root@huginn ~]# ls -lath /dev/uinput
crw-rw---- 1 root uinput 10, 223 17.10.2015 11:12 /dev/uinput
EDIT
This works for me:
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="28de", MODE="0666"
KERNEL=="uinput", MODE="0660", GROUP="uinput", OPTIONS+="static_node=uinput"

Hmm, found on Debian Stretch
/etc/udev/rules.d/90-uinput.rules
KERNEL=="uinput", GROUP="uinput-users", MODE="0660"
KERNEL=="uhid", GROUP="uinput-users", MODE="0660"
For whatever reason /dev/uinput doesn't keep settings, it's always
crw------- 1 root root 10, 223 Oct 16 20:56 /dev/uinput
Newer kernels (Linux skint 4.2.0-1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.2.1-2 (2015-09-27) x86_64 GNU/Linux) does not have the hidraw module anymore.
I don't know where 90-uinput.rules came from. I don't see it within debian's packages (apt-file came up empty)
It seems to kind of work, but couldn't get firmware to load, or steam to detect it when I tried the 'add steam controller' button.

Hmm, I'm wondering if they work out of the box on Debian, has anyone tested it? I use Stretch at the moment, but I'd think Valve would have added patches for Jessie.

Storm United, The Great Looking UE4 FPS Is Finally Getting An Update
9 October 2015 at 8:58 pm UTC
Ugh, that reminds me.. a bit off topic, but some of the games I have installed for the very reason that I check to see if updates have been done and hope things have been fixed... two off the top of my head I recently tried and failed to see the bugs fixed are 7 Days to Die and Ark. Both are still quite buggy.
I am not sure if I have Storm United, I may have to get it if they are releasing it for Linux.

Quoting: TheReaperUKI had a clean out of games on steam which i don't play or don't work (still waiting for patches) or have not had an update in ages, that was 2 days ago and guess what one of the games i deleted/uninstalled was, Maybe i'll wait for the patch then re-install.

Magicka 2 Looks Like It Will Land On Linux Soon, Having Final Tweaks

I wouldn't think so, the PS4 Dual Shock 3 has the same amount of buttons, only real difference between it and the xbox 360 controller is the touchpad and the 'share' button. So I wonder why they changed it.

SteamPad sounds like something you'd use to relax your muscles.
Magicka 2 is awesome, loved the first one, bought the second one on the PS4, because I didn't want to buy anything for Windows. May have to buy it again for Linux. That and they changed the controls from the first one (I played it on PC, and really like how it played, on the PS4 they changed how you do combos, it's really weird to get used to. Not sure if it's the same on the PC or not).
What I mean by this is that you have 8 elemental powers you can put into combos to create spells, so you can mix up to 5 of them together for various strength/effects. On the first game, you did this with various buttons, so you could do it really fast. On the second one, you have a sort of wheel that you have an alt button on, which you select with moving the second analog stick in a direction and you can hold the alt button to select the second set of elementals. Definitely hard to do when you have hordes of enemies running toward you.
