Quoting: 141. The author of the original content made the changes for everyone, not some other entity that only changes it for certain people. It would have been different if it was the original author. This is just the new owner. Much like Amazon owning the rights (at least enough of them) to mangle Tolkien's years of world building...

Quoting: 14The changes seem pretty minor to me. Still not a children's game, so it's not like the style or mood or rating changed. For me, it is the fact they censored it at all. I am also pissed there have been charging/ censoring of books by long dead writers. Who gave them the right to alter the work of others?
In principle, it is a weird thing to do to a game many people purchased a long time ago. Doesn't feel right.

Quoting: sddtDial-up used to be that way... these days the majority of people in the USA are stuck with either Comcast, AT&T, their local Telco, or Google... and most of those choices really dependent on area... comcast is just evil shit... thanks to lack of Net Neutrality...Quoting: slaapliedjeClose to 6 years after I moved out of my old house, and 12 years after someone told me there would be fiber available there... a different company now has fiber there! Isn't that almost always the case? Seriously wish there were more competition in the ISP space...
That's one thing some countries have managed better than others... here one company operates the infrastructure (but aren't allowed to run an ISP) and has to offer ISPs the same connection prices (set by an independent analysis of a fair return on investment). As a result, almost everyone (except for farms) has a choice of dozens of ISPs who compete on price, features, and service, but with the same underlying technology.
Fedora considering adding in 'privacy-preserving' telemetry

Telemetry in any way that is doing things in the background is, in my opinion, wrong. The only exception to that for me would be a bug reporting facility. Print out the crash data, and ask if it is okay to upload to a bugtracker. The thought of my OS just sending off info kind of disgusts me. See how much crap Windows does is appalling.

Quoting: m2mg2Debian has had the popularity contest question for ages during install, but the click through / wnter key is by default off. And all that does is set a cron to show packages installed.Quoting: mr-victoryKDE Plasma added opt-in telemetry and life went on. Fedora is considering telemetry and it blew up for some reason.
The big problem is installing it and activating it by default, giving the option to disable after the fact but you can click through it without even reading it or actually making a choice to authorize it. Opt out
They want to trick people into allowing it. Honestly I may change distros even if they don't move forward just because they are even seriously considering this and their developers are actively pushing for it.

My question is; after IBM's most recent FU to the open source community... is anyone still going to use Fedora, let alone want to give them any data?

Quoting: Craggles086Question?Right? Atari seems to own some of their IP. They were mostly known for really great strategy / simulation games. I just want them to bring out a new Falcon or F-15 Strike Eagle type game.
If MicroProse gets brought back from the dead, by another company
are they still MicroProse?
Or are they just another company posing as MicroPose,
waving the MicroPose banner to capture a loyal fan base,
and maybe, or maybe not getting access to past IP.
A meaningless flapping in the wind..
Is it just a name change that means nothing? Marketing?

Quoting: Craggles086Even though I am in the US, the fun thing about the 16bit era was all the European versions of games... so I always knew Tower Toppler as Nebulus! They had cooler names...Quoting: F.UltraQuoting: Craggles086Quoting: dpanterZombies make any game better!
Cannot see how Donkey Kong would have been improved by zombies.. :)
ain't you in for a surprise
DONKEY KONG ZOMBIES ★ Call of Duty Zombies Mod (Zombie Games)
The next edition of Tower Toppler, now with extra zombies.
Always felt like Tower Toppler would feel better if the mechanics and sound were brought closer to the Commodore 64 version of Nebulus. While dodging zombies might be cool, I feel that this would be taking the game in the opposite direction.
But sure if any programmers out there want to add zombies to Tower Toppler I put my hand in to evaluate it, and compare it to the original C64 game.
Tower Toppler cross with Dark Castle anyone?
