The X-Wing games... that's one I'm hoping that allows easier modding, etc.

DevilutionX continues improving classic Diablo and Hellfire

Quoting: Kronos_MOTAs an FYI, if you own Diablo from GOG and use Lutris, there is an option to install the GOG version with DevilutionX right through Lutris.

That's the way I loaded it and it set everything up for me.

Next I will try the same thing on my Steam Deck and see how that goes...
Wonder if they could make it more gamepad friendly with DevilutionX. Then you'd have the best of both worlds, the higher resolution / zoom out of the PC version, with the gamepad support of the PSX version.

Quoting: slaapliedjeI'm hoping Diablo 2 eventually gets the same treatment. Mainly because playing it on one of my Amigas would just be sweet.

You don't how hard I'm crossing my fingers for this!
Also... Diablo II would run on Amiga?!
I think slaapliedje's referring to the modern-day Amiga port of DevilutionX. I'm pretty certain it requires a very beefed up Amiga (RTG card + accelerator), not just a stock one. I'm using a Vampire-equipped A500 myself, so I'm never quite sure what that translates to in period-accurate terms.
Yes, a v2 Vampire I think is roughly a 150mhz 68060, and v4 Vampire is roughly a 250mhz 68060. Not counting the SAGA / Audio improvements of course.

Ha, guess it depends. It would very much run on AmigaOS4. Might work on an 060 based Amiga.

Quoting: ssj17vegetaI had it on the Amiga.

At the time, I didn't have many games and coming back from my friend's place (who owned a NES and Super Mario 3) was somewhat a frustrating experience. Until Zool came out !

A great game I have very fond memories of !
Platformers are one of my all-time favourite genres, so I was just happy to have more of them in general. (Except for Bubsy... Too many game-design issues there for my liking, though they certainly nailed the Looney Tunes-ish look.)

Quoting: slaapliedjeAre they actually supporting it? Or is it just a matter of Valve telling them they tested it on the Deck, it worked, and so they announced it was verified for the Steam Deck. It's not like they were required to patch it. It likely just worked the first time someone tested it.
They are! In mid-May (almost two years after launch) there was an update adding some local multiplayer mini-games and a couple of new quality-of-life tweaks, as well.

Quoting: slaapliedjeAre they going to be doing Zool 2?
It's not as well-liked as the first one so I kind of doubt it, though I'd honestly love to see them fix it up for a sequel-remake.

That said, they did make what looked like a hint at a Zool 3 in this one, and speaking as someone who's a bit of a sucker for a number of somewhat-forgotten platforming mascots including Zool (I own a nice chunk of the official Zool merch that's been issued over time ), I was quite happy to see that.

Quoting: slaapliedjeI think Atari at one point was trying to get Rayman, or Bubsy, or... Something.
Bizarrely, they had both of those guys and Zool, at that point. The Jaguar really had a disproportionate amount of mascot-platformers, considering that it only had five platformers in total during its original run! (I gather it's gotten at least a couple more ported to it in more recent years.)

Quoting: slaapliedjeThey could have just done more Bently Bear stuff, though most probably don't remember the incredible game, Crystal Castles...
Well, Bentley was in Atari Karts, at least, so I guess there's that... Very odd that he didn't get a platforming appearance, considering the era!

Good to see that they're still updating it then! A Zool 3 would be awesome, I still haven't beaten any of them, I keep thinking I should play 1 and 2 on my CD32, at least I have a Competition Pro for it!

At least Bentley Bear eventually got a platformer! https://atariage.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1198

QuotePlay the original Mega Drive version

I mean everyone knows the Atari ST version was the original...

Still find it odd that the Jaguar had Zool 2, but not 1... and then they remastered Zool 1, but not 2...

Quoting: PenglingI'm quite impressed by how long they've been supporting it for, at this point - and they seem to be willing to give Zool another chance, which is cool.

Are they going to be doing Zool 2?

Zool was basically an attempt by someone to get a gaming mascot for the Amiga. Everyone was trying to get one around that time. Nintendo had Mario, Sega had Sonic, I think Atari at one point was trying to get Rayman, or Bubsy, or... Something. They could have just done more Bently Bear stuff, though most probably don't remember the incredible game, Crystal Castles...

Yeah, the same thing with my try. Controls, mechanics etc. Just terrible. Baldurs Gate 1 & 2 for example aged much better. Seriously.
I still maintain the Pie menus of Neverwinter Nights were genius. So much nicer than the more typical menus with break outs to other menus... Especially once you get really used to it, and can navigate based on muscle memory. Problem with the game though is getting it to be usable with a game pad. They did port it to Switch, PS4, etc. But the controls on it are kind of trash. They haven't bothered with doing the same on the computer release of course. Though I think with the steam controller / deck it could have some awesome potential if there was some work put into it.
Quoting: elmapulinst that one of the first games to have linux support?
UT99 and Doom, and... well many others had Linux support before. I think the first commercial game I bought that had a separate Linux release (UT99 had a Linux installer you could get separately if I recalled, UT2004 had it on the disk) was Civilization: Call to Power, which came out in 1999.
