An update on the Xenonauts Linux port that's only for 'legacy customers'

At least that's a solid reason. They still seem to be at least open to support Linux in the future, which is good.

I don't like first-person games, but seeing Vulkan pick up some steam is awesome news! :)

Ancient Rome is one of my most favorite periods in history. I was hoping to see the two Total War games set there on Linux one day!

Selling the studio doesn't mean they are selling the Hitman IP, no?

Quoting: DisharmonicThis should be fun if utterly unrealistic. Seems like it will be Tropico on Mars

I’m afraid I won’t enjoy it much if it is similar to Paradox games or Tropico 5.

I skipped on Victor Vran because I am not too eager to play games that force me to play a male character, at least not unless premade female characters become just as normal.
Oh common, this isn't the 90s, female characters are quite common in games these days. Maybe it's not a 50/50 split but there are certainly a lot of games out there.

Funnily enough, female lead characters appear more often in Indie productions, but in all quite honesty, I am not sure where you saw the progress in mainstream games. I didn't. I still need less than the fingers on my hands to name pretty much all AAA games I can't think of lead by truly iconic girl characters: Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, Mirror's Edge, Blood Rayne, Remember Me and Life is Strange. There are a few JPRGs with female leads, too. That's about it. This is nowhere near 50%. It's not even 25%. I don't really think we're in double-digit percentage figures of representation yet. Whenever mainstream industry makes a game with a premade character, it's still almost universally a guy. Compared to the mid 80s, there was some progress in terms of the number of games with premade characters overall decreasing and more games offering choices. Shepard can be a girl now, if you want. That's the one positive development I saw. But as far as premades go, there was barely any change. The industry at large is still one of the most sexist on the planet. It was only a few years ago when the developer of Remember Me got shown the door by pretty much all larger publishers, because nobody wanted to publish a game with a female lead. 'nuff said.

Sorry but what the hell? There are games where you need gender lock because of the story, Victor Vran is pretty much one of those. Ohh noo why do i have to play as female character in Tomb Raider? ...

thats just seriously stupid if you ask me. Why does the gender in games matter at all. If its designed this way its how you play it, if it has a choice to choose, then you choose what you want to play.

Victor Vran isn't male because the story demands the lead character to be male. He's male because that's what his creators wanted him to be. It's hilarious that some people still think that 95% of all video game characters are male for no other reason than because the "story demands it". Give me Victor Vran's script and a pencil and I substitute his character with an equally believable female in less than 10 minutes. There is -zero- reason for this character to be gender-locked, except that most studios are still mentally stuck in the early 90s when girls didn't play video games.

Paradox's grand strategy games are not for everyone, I concede that (I love them, though). But what's wrong with Tropico 5? It's nowhere as complex as the average Paradox game. I had fun with it, at least.

Feral Interactive are teasing yet another Linux game

As usual, I go full denial mode and pretend it's a very, VERY obscure hint at Skyrim or Fallout 4. At this time I am not even sure which games other than Bethesda's full inventory sans Doom I could even want. There haven't been terribly interesting (for me) new releases in months, even on Windows.
