Paradox and C Prompt team up for Millennia and it looks very Civilization

Civ hasn't been ruined as badly as Sim City has been ruined by EA, but it got stale enough that I can't wait to see somebody else breathe some fresh air into it. Looks less cartoonish than Civ VI, so that's a good start.

Quoting: Purple Library GuyThen they're either wrong about the rate of return, or interest rates go up, or both, and they're underwater. Or rather, the company they're associated with is underwater; the actual people probably take huge bonuses and compensation packages and a few other clever forms of remuneration from the corpse of the company before they jump to the next scam--limited liability FTW.

Still no problem, at least if you're "too big to fail". Just ask for taxpayer bailout money and carry on gambling.

The number of game devs I talked to who founded studios with the primary goal to eventually get bought out by a bigger fish is fairly mind-numbing. They want to publish one good game, get noticed, get bought, and walk away with a fat wad of cash. So, yeah, they really want to do this.

It's no wonder that this is how the story often ends.

Shame. Beamdog was a great studio. At least before they got bought by these people. MythForce is quite a misfit in their portfolio. Like Anthem was for Bioware. Maybe studios should stick to what they're good at.

I was just taking a coffee break from punching code into the Godot Editor when I read this.

I giggled.

Quoting: KimyrielleIt's kinda strange that they'd drop Linux support from an engine already having it. But to be honest, I see no reason to treat this game different than any other Windows-only game I've bought lately. If it runs well in Proton, I am going to get it (sounds a bit similar to Birth of the Federation, which I absolutely loved back then!).

Let's be honest, Proton has made native ports somewhat obsolete.
All Proton does is make us keep chasing the 'best version of Proton'. The best version of a game should always be if the Developers actually properly support the Linux Native build. Sadly, a large percentage of all the native Linux builds we've gotten over the years have not been properly supported (Civilization VI is a great example of this).

Proton will always have regressions. You may have one version of Proton work great for a game... until that game gets patched, then you need to find a different version of Proton. It's a moving target for newer games. Older games may just work and you set them up to work, and they'll just work. But then you also have rolling Linux distros that'll potentially break things as well.

There are Windows games not properly running on newer versions of Windows, so I am not sure how strong a point that really is.

If a game is important enough, the WINE/Proton developers will fix it fairly quickly. If a native Linux version breaks, the devs tended not to care more often than not. Yes, Civ VI is a prime example of that. In my experience as of late, once a game runs in Proton, it tends to stay that way more often than not.

And if people insist on using rolling release distros, they shouldn't be surprised to see stuff break left and right. Comes with the territory. :P

Quoting: Grogan"Star Trek" broke canon with the "reboot" movies. They used... wait for it... a temporal event to do it.

They lost me there.

The game seems to be set in the TNG era, so it won't suffer from any of that. :)

PS: I didn't mind the reboot movies. They don't strictly break canon, since they're set in an alternative timeline (and time travel has been a part of Trek since forever, so that's fair game, IMHO). I have a bigger problem with all the space magic they introduced in the newer shows. That stuff makes me cringe. I loved Trek more when it at least tried to remain close to science.

Starfield brings even my desktop to its knees. I couldn't imagine for a second that's actually playable on the Deck. oO

Hogwarts played surprisingly well on the Deck. Not sure I'd want to play BG3 on it, though. The font seems to be small even on my desktop. Right now, I am playing Octopath Traveller II on the Deck and I am loving it!
