Pillars of Eternity II will be getting three post-launch content packs

I agree with you both, DLC that is effectively an old style expansion is perfectly acceptable, its te crappy extra character skins that I find appalling (I will allow them if free), though I am a sucker for the DLC in Stellaris...
Yep in an RPG DLC that sits mid campaign just means I have rto wait until the 'definitive' edition is released to play with the expansion content included.

Quoting: razing32I don't mind DLC.
I liked expansion packs back in the day. Starcraft Broodwar , Age of Empires 2 The Conquerors etc.
Bad DLC would be something like horsearmor.
Bad DLC would be on-release DLC or on-disc DLC.
Even worse they could have loot crates.
As long as it is extra optional content that does not break the game I am happy to purchase.

They should stop using this term already. Just call it expansion pack. Kerbal Space Program developers got it.

Quoting: DrMcCoyI guess they're again going to stick these DLC into the middle of the game? So that just means I'm going to have to wait for November until I can play Pillars of Eternity II.

Even though I backed on Kickstarter I dont disagree with you, and usuallyI would wait until a full Linux release before purchasing even if I knew it was only a 2-3 month wait. It is a shame we miss the pre-order bonuses so often though and I feel like more developers should offer Linux gamers something for the wait.

Quoting: Avehicle7887Another game I will most likely not buy because of pre order bonuses.
The situation as it stands:
The "Shadowhawk Pack" is a pre-order bonus and the game is releasing as a Windows+Mac first. As a Linux user I want to buy it once the Linux version is out which by the time that happens the pre-orders bonus is gone so goodbye exclusive skin.
Secondly there is the GOG + Multiplayer issue, the dev gave us no assurance the Linux version will be available on GOG. From past experiences, devs seem to magically wake up late to the "Galaxy isn't present on Linux" thing and that can easily mean no Linux for GOG.
Personally it doesn't make any difference to me paying full price now or at release, I'm more than happy to support hard work. However I'm not going to tolerate missing content just because I'm on a different platform. Pre-Order bonuses is bad marketing and they're shooting their own feet here.
I can kinda understand this post may not go down well for some people, but I've been burned twice by a similar situation and I'm not going to make that mistake again.

2nd generation AMD Ryzen desktop processors now available to pre-order

These all are SKU'd to sound as if they are Zen 2 what with the 2700X name instead of 1700X etc; i would have though a Zen+ mid gen refresh would be say 1750X or something like that. SO im confused as to if this is Zen+ or Zen2
13 April 2018 at 2:54 pm UTC
Quoting: FeistI considered waiting for this, when I bought my Ryzen a few weeks ago. However, everything I read suggested that improvements and performance boosts would not be very significant.
So, I figured that I might as well buy a "zen-cpu", skip the "zen+" generation and then look at possibly upgrading to a "zen2" cpu in 2019 or 2020.

Quoting: ShmerlGood, that should answer the hype that MS are trying to create with their lock-in.

Nice read that.
It's not even 2 supporting Linux on that list, the only support for Linux is Gridd (and its demo so doesnt count)

I Love the flavour in that feature list :) Definately on my buy list.
Awesome trailer as well, I would love some cutscene style story content inside the game itself it good be amazing.
