A reason for poor performance on AMD plus Mesa has been found and a patch is in progress

Quoting: liamdaweYou should remember not everyone uses Linux for just freedom, there's many reasons. You should just accept others choices and move on. Not everyone needs a lecture and we don't need an AMD topic derailed because of it :)

Indeed, I started using Linux just to see what it was like. When I decided to switch totally one of the choices I made was yo change my graphics card to Nvidia as I valued my gaming still.

I like that much of the O/S is open source, but I don't inherently have a problem with proprietary software so long as it doesn't impede on security and performance. I also have no problem with paying for software when it gives me something tangible in return over the alternative.

Perfectly clean, but i5 4670k vs. Phenom II X4 makes huge difference - in my case between playable/unplayable.

True, I do have a dual boot though I cant remember the last time I logged in except for work reasons. And I would agree as nice as the 955 is (i had one in my last build) the i5 is a marked upgrade so I definately would expect that i get better milage from my setup, which definately helps.

Ok, I'll do it, however i tried different in-game graphical options, with no success. Of course with my PC I don't expect smooth gameplay with 'ultra' or even 'high' settings, but 'normal' would be nice.
Maybe the best and final solution is to completely wipe out Windows partition and stop comparing :)

Ok, I must admit: 'Life Is Strange' works very well.

I have given up comparing; I *know* that in all likelyhood I could run games better on my hardware under windows maybe with higher settings, but frankly I dont care that much so long as the game is mostly smooth; I wont deal with slideshows but if I can play a smooth experience on mid settings I am a happy camper.

Possible Paradox grand strategy livestream in the works, community input wanted

Im certainly ineterested in participating; though I only own Stellaris and my ability to play would be limited by times due to family comitments.

But once more people throw their oar in and a game is chosen I should know if I can join (If you want me :P)

I had seen this when it was released for Windows, and it looked interesting was hoping it would come to Linux, definitely going to buy. Could of missed it if I hadn't seen your post going to wishlist now.

GOL officially has Stellaris access, livestream going up as soon as it's downloaded

Insanely jealous of this, but happy you got access. Apparently the recent multi-player event in London was fine on steam machines.

Feral Interactive release the Linux system requirements for Tomb Raider (updated)

Yeah the graphoc memory requirements are a large jump from the windows release; where reccommended only needs 1GB (less than min spec for Linux)

This is a concern, I have a GTX760 with 2GB GDDR, so at least i will hit min spec, the descrepancy is very large, I have dropped a tweet to Feral as if this is sign of thinks to come, even basic linux gaming is going to require more outlay on HW to keep pace with windows.
