Quoting: PatolaHave they finally added stream output to this driver?

According to a post with the phoronix article, it contains the Vulkan Beta stuff up to 396.54.06, which means that transform feedback is still lacking.

Shame, hopefully the stream output stuff will make its way into the 4xx series soon then I can play Witcher 3; though I have waited this long so Im sure I can wait a little longer. Plus have enough games to finish anyway, and there is always time for 1 more Stellaris playthrough, want to get a MP game going once "Le Guin"/Megacorps is out.

Quoting: ShmerlBuilding it is quite easy too, so you can do it yourself.

You don't have to build it at all. :)
Just install Lutris and when new version of DXVK is released, simply update your game settings in Lutris to use this version.

True you can; but from all of his posts Shmerl very much likes compiling his WINE builds from source with just the patches he things may improve performance on specific games. Great for performance and bug testing, or if you like to cut down on extraneous patches.

Me I like the pre-builts :) May have to try Lutris at somepoint as currently I just use POL

Quoting: antisolI'd be very interested to hear opinions justifying how Stellaris represents value for money.

I have all the DLC (bar 1, but thats because I have not played since that was released) and I plan on picking this + the other one I dont have up when its out.

For value, I guess thats a personal thing, you can certainly pickup Stellaris and it's preceding DLC on sales quite often and for newcomer I would definately wait and go for that, around new DLC time the old DLC tends to be discounted. I personally am happy with what I have spent, each DLC gets me at least 2-3 new playthroughs and I spend as much time on those each as I would for a full priced new game, all have added depth and interest to the game.

If you like replaying games with new twists the DLC is definately worth it, if you prefer brand new experiences for your buck, then I would say your better off spending on a new title.

Life is Strange 2 confirmed to be coming to Linux in 2019 from Feral Interactive

I dont mind waiting, am enjoying the first one at the minute, frankly Im not a fan f episodic content, much prefer the whole game to be released so I can play it without breaks as sometimes I lose interest that way.

Steam Play set to get DXVK 0.72, Wine fixes for .NET and windowing issues

Quoting: lqe5433Wine is only working with X.org, and X.org will be replaced with Wayland really soon, so I don't see the point of this. Games should use SDL2 on Linux, or Wine needs to use Wayland.

I mean sure wine and proton should be future proofed but leaving existing bugs isnt the way to do that. Plus Wayland has been going to replace X.org really soon for like the last 5 years, and yet here we are still.

A beta of BATTLETECH for Linux is due in 'next few weeks'

Quoting: SchattenspiegelOh look, finally proper communication and suddenly I do not feel mad anymore and look forward to buy and play the game on release again. ^_^

Agreed, this is the sort of update/feedback I alluded to in my comment against the last Battletech article. It gives us just a glimpse into what is going on in the development and hows its being dealt with.

Knowing they are progressing and that the delay is a result of an Audio bug, give the sense of progress.

Valve are already pushing ahead with updates to Steam Play's Proton with a beta channel

Quoting: KimyrielleSo...

What do people think is the better choice to run Windows games now? regular WINE? Staging? Proton?

Given steam counts a game purchased and played via proton as a Linux purchase, I would lean therefore to Steam/Proton.

Valve officially confirm a new version of 'Steam Play' which includes a modified version of Wine

Quoting: dubigrasuWhat? Of course it matters! It matters to me anyway. I have a deep respect for Feral and I'm curious in which way this it affects them.

I mean it doesn't matter in the sense that it should provide positive outcome for Linux gaming either way. Feral might need to change something, and hopefully the right way. For one I hope they'll start releasing DRM-free games.

If I where Feral I would negotiate the license sooner than today and do a same day release by using the proton wrapper (for the games where Proton works) and then release the native port with full performance and support later. That way they will not loose sales with this change while still being able to produce a proper native port later.

Havent Feral in the past stated that once they have announced a port is coming from them, we are free to buy it from Steam even when the Linux build is not yet released. I would guess that Feral would simply need to either amend their contracts to include that they get a % of profits from purchases before their native port goes live of those that are listed as Linux purchasors using proton. Or it could be that their existing contract already handles this position already.

BATTLETECH has an expansion named FLASHPOINT coming out this November

Quoting: melkemindI actually have Battletech (didn't buy it in Steam), and it's now in my Steam library. I clicked in Install, and it downloaded at a 15MB file. Does that mean it's close to a Linux release?

I have had that same install of 15MB available since at least June/July. Havent bothered 'installing' it yet could just be some backer/add extra content like soundtrack or backgrounds.
