Quoting: SkiskiI just tried the game last week and my CPU (i5-2400 3.1GHz) can't handle the game. It was between 10 and 30 FPS. Could vulkan help the CPU and use more the GPU? Because my GTX 960 is more than enough for this game.

Err, I played the whole game through on an i3-6100 + GTX950. On openGL, never an issue.
Are you using the proprietary drivers?
Wouldn't a sixth-generation i3 fare better than a second-generation i5 with a CPU-bound game?

Oh... Yes indeed. I didn't pay attention to the gen number.

Quoting: kokoko3kWhile i appreciate the pixeled genre, i cannot understand why one should buy one of that games, when he can play tons of similar abandonware.

I want to downvote the shit out of you.

It's not about whether or not there are alternatives available, never was, never will be. Game developers expend huge amounts of time and energy to bring us games - and this dev in particular succeeded in creating a (fun) game with a particular aesthetic that is rather hard to get right.

Quoting: TheRiddickThen you and others who look at it like that are shortsighted I'm sorry to say.

Its about platforms, CD VHS MP3 are all different media platforms that can run on different devices. WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT HERE IS PC, PC is NOT multiple platforms, it is ONE! GET IT? I hope so.

Sorry I don't get it. In my opinion PC is not a platform, the OS is the platform and no different than a Sega Genesis and a Super Nintendo, a VHS or Beta-Max, BlueRay or HDdvd, CD's or records, Netflix or Amazon. That is why it is called cross-platform gaming.

I agree with Liam on this.

Exactly.
grumbles... PC, Personal Computer. IBM-PC is a term that goes way back. You know what happened when the bios for the IBM machines was finally reverse engineered? We started getting IBM-PC Compatibles.

The PC became a hardware standard and specification - ie, not a platform.
A PC. Is. The. Hardware. A (now) open standard.

The OS that you run, that is the platform. And if a developer or porting house expends time, effort, and money, to port to a new platform then they deserve to recoup their outlay in making this happen.

Quoting: lidstahOne thing before war starts: these famous market share.

Let's do the math, according to (iirc) 2013 stats:

1.2% Linux gamers, ~80 millions Steam accounts, so barely 900.000 linux gamers

2015 stats (iirc, again, but the figures are roughly the sames):

0.92% Linux gamers, ~140 millions Steam accounts, so, barely, roughly 1.5 million linux gamers.

The fact is that if market share seems to drop, due to the fact Steam users growing faster than Steam Linux users, doesn't mean that we're less to play and use Steam. So, in fact, the Steam Linux users number is growing. Not as fast as the "global" Steam users, but growing.

This a thousand times. It seems to be the one thing people always forget; just because the percentage drops, does not mean the overall amount of Linux gamers has dropped.

Quoting: LeopardYep,if this user share won't change i'm afraid eventually we will migrate to Windows again.

Good riddance. I suppose people (like me) use Linux based operating systems not only because of a certain market share on Steam.

If you want to do real gaming, you will need to use other platforms besides Linux. If you don't think so,ask Liam.Who also uses a console for real gaming.

Yeah, fanatics like you always exist so i'm not surprised.

Wait.... Real gaming?

Are you implying that the games I play on Linux aren't *real* games?

If you don't mind, please look at the message i explained my real gaming terms

So, arbitrary rules that *you* made up. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you want to do real Linux gaming, you need to use other hardware, like a Core i5, or i7, or even a new Ryzen, and you definitely need to run an Nvidia card.

See how that works?

Ryzen, looks damned tempting. Not prepared to give up my $300 Intel board yet though, so hopefully they bring Intel down in price too.
