Provided you stay away from AMD cards, then gaming under Linux is looking VERY good and prosperous.
(I have a 390x and tried ALL driver versions including experimental and its like ripping your eye balls out, crashes all over, then when it works you will end up with only %40-50 of the performance NVIDIA gets for similar/slower cards)
PS. My 390x is in the shop atm under RMA, yep AMD cards melt!

"developers working on performance" GOOD.
Really wish more developers would work on performance tuning sooner however, games like ARK & Space Engineers could REALLY use it!

Kingdom Come: Deliverance doesn't look like it will come to Linux any time soon

CryEngine are working on it I assume, but given Nvidia card/users can probably only use it, then I doubt they are dedicating too much to it. Plus Vulkan is still new so could be another 6months before they figure that out.

it does support hawaii cards also by enabling cik support in kernel. however I don't know how effective that part is atm. the 390s are the most unloved cards by AMD for some reason....
AMD could be back in the CPU performance game with Zen

I would like a AMD CPU for my next upgrade, I even had a 6 core 8370E CPU while back, moved to a Intel 6core cpu and felt it was a huge waste of money except for the benefit of PCIe3.0 which did help with 4k content. I didn't see a massive jump in general desktop/gaming performance going from the 8370e to the intel 6 core I have today, definitely not the $500odd I paid for the Intel CPU.
Arma 3 Linux port updated to 1.54 as promised

The texture issue you mention is a old one, basically for videocards of 4gb or less it becomes a issue. My 390x has 8GB and thus it allows ULTRA textures without a hitch, I heard the 980Ti also allows Ultra. I reported the bug way back in the beginning.

Unfortunately I saw this coming a MILE away, I have the game, got it early on and they deviated from making it a story campaign coop into a multi-player arena shooter, fatal mistake!
Really wish I could get my money back!

Its a good port and I intend of playing ARMA3 more once I figure out howto get my AMDGPU CIK 390X working with latest MESA, and ARMA3 working with that (at present its taking too much of my time to fix so I have put off using Linux until a kernel 4.5 gets released.
And yes Windows ARMA3 is 1.56 with a performance pass patch in beta (not sure if that is 1.56 or 1.58..)

With NVIDIAS Vulkan driver does it treat every GPU you have as a resource? do games benefit with multiple GPUs yet under Vulkan?
Just wondering because SLI under Linux has always been a bit shaky at times. (better then AMD whom don't support XF or Vulakn atm)

I found it hilarious that Microsoft responded not long ago that they would fix the vsync/60fps AND SLI problems so that they would work in their Windowed environment..... YEAH RIGHT....
