Quoting: musojon74I'm liking this. There appears to be a common problem with sound. I can't get all the sound on mass effect 1 other than the intro swoosh sounds. Skyrim works lovely other than the standard freeze on quit which we are used too. No mans sky works great. Interestingly when I switch to 4k resolution on Ubuntu then run it I get a black screen with sound. Anyone getting sound but no video try out 1080p. Exciting. I deleted the wine install. If it keeps working well the windows partition is on borrowed time.
I have to confirm, that running some of the games on 4K is problematic...
...that is why it feels like I'm almost the only guy on the planet, for whom Doom is not working out of the box... (and yes, before you ask - I have a pretty standard config of Ubuntu 18.04 with GTX 1060 on 396.51). But after several tries/fights I won and I can shoot the whole Mars hell into oblivion.
Crysis is also reported to run ok, but on my 4K it is again a nogo..
Hum, since you didn't tell before I asked, have you reported your findings on Valve's Proton Github? DOOM is supposed to be supported :D

Ummm, nope, not yet :) I'm playing/testing the game for now (and a bunch of others); but I will report it at a later time. I guess I want to re-install it later on, and test the behavior under more "deterministic" conditions (right now I have to admit I'm not even sure how I made it work; I tried around 5 things in parallel :) ).
Anyway, I already made around 6 reports into the sheet itself, so I guess I will work on it more during the weekend; now I'm more like enjoying the ride :D

Quoting: BoldosJust to refresh the info:
THIS is the "live" version of the tracking document, and it has grown 1,5 times from yesterday (to roughly 2600 test entries as of this morning; so pretty impressive so far):
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DcZZQ4HL_Ol969UbXJmFG8TzOHNnHoj8Q1f8DIFe8-8/edit#gid=0
This generated view loads a lot faster and it's cleaner without the useless editor bits. It seems to update every 5 minutes so it's live enough.
Yep, that is very correct.
Nevertheless, it has a bit limited functionality, like you do not see line numbering, no possibility to filter by game name or game's Status. Hence I chose to use the more complicated version :)

Kosh? Is that you?
Aren't you going to say "...and so it begins"? :)

What are you playing this weekend?
28 July 2018 at 10:35 am UTC

This weekend I'm playing bicycle, evening bbq with friends, with a nightly DLC containing some beers/rums/whatever will be available :)
As a bonus, I will play Transistor on Sunday evening - just bought it dirt cheap on Steam yesterday (hope there will be time)...
...as a mega bonus, I will also play a boss level of MS Team Foundation Services stuff (need to finish some work stuff before Sunday night :) )

What are you playing this weekend and what do you think about it?

- Warhammer40K: Gladius - Relics of War: Very nice game, I'm a bit surprised and astonished at the same time, that I really do not miss the diplomacy in the Civ-type 4X game :)
- X Rebirth: Gave it a try after some years, and - again - I'm very surprised that it is not AS bad as I remember it. It is not X3, but some of game's features are awesome... Looking forward to X4! (and also to StarCitizen, if/when released on Linux... although I estimate that could happen some time e.g. early 2026, so, X4 for now :) )
(No time for Stellaris this weekend :( ...shame on me :) )

We’ve teamed up with GOG for the Ubuntu 18.04 release, we have some keys to give away

Although I'm not insisting on DRM free (because I believe that >every< publisher publishing Linux games deserve to feed their families :)), I love DRM free games! (too)

Reminder: Update your PC info for the next round of statistics updates

Quoting: FeistThere's also the fact that the info is for the "main gaming computer" and I have 4 computers, one that is very old and 3 more modern that I occasionally use for gaming depending on whether I'm at home or away and also dependent on what time of year it is. (during the warmer part of the year, may-sept, I hardly use my "main computer" at all, instead I use either a laptop or a desktop that is in a room below ground level, for coolness sake)
I also have 2 "mainly used" devices (Intel-based laptop and AMD-based powerful desktop). I use both. Which one am I going to prefer this time for statistics...? :)

Stellaris: Apocalypse is due soon & there's a new overview video up, also a note about Linux sales

Quoting: elbuglione1/2 Million active Linux users only on Steam.. .how many active users are enough to consider Linux a viable market???
FYI: 0.41% from approx 280M Steam total users is more that 1/2M active Linux accounts ;)
(it is somewhere around 1.1M to 1.2M to be more specific).
