Dead Island Definitive Edition and Dead Island Riptide: Definitive Edition released, seem to have hidden Linux versions

Quoting: WienerWuerstel
Quoting: ziabiceI edited the drirc file as suggested, but that don't helped, still getting a blank screen.

I think that the problem here is that the game engine misinterpret my OpenGL version string and complains on start, but let me play anyway: that happens also with other games, ie "Crookz: The big heist" or "Serious Sam 3", and seems to me a major Mesa bug.

Dead Island Definitive Edition uses the Chrome Engine 6, which is the same engine that Dying Light uses, so it wouldn't surprise me if it has the same OpenGL requirements (4.4) as Dying Light.

Yes, I just tried to run "The Dying Light" Demo and it doesn't work too. Complains about the OpenGL version then crashes, and from the logs it seems an OpenGL problem.

So this game is not ready for Mesa 11.2 (or Mesa is not ready for it, as you wish)

What happens:

$> glxinfo | grep OpenGL
OpenGL vendor string: X.Org
OpenGL renderer string: Gallium 0.4 on AMD PITCAIRN (DRM 2.43.0, LLVM 3.8.0)
OpenGL core profile version string: 4.1 (Core Profile) Mesa 11.2.2
OpenGL core profile shading language version string: 4.10
OpenGL core profile context flags: (none)
OpenGL core profile profile mask: core profile
OpenGL core profile extensions:
OpenGL version string: 3.0 Mesa 11.2.2
OpenGL shading language version string: 1.30
OpenGL context flags: (none)
OpenGL extensions:
OpenGL ES profile version string: OpenGL ES 3.0 Mesa 11.2.2
OpenGL ES profile shading language version string: OpenGL ES GLSL ES 3.00
OpenGL ES profile extensions:

The game reads: "OpenGL version string: 3.0 Mesa 11.2.2" and believes that my OpenGL version is "3.0" (or "unknown") and something goes wrong.
I'll try to experiment with some Mesa version overridding and report back.

Does it work with mesa 11.2.2 and radeonsi? All I get is a black screen with music playing in the background.

It's really impressive how well runs now on my PC compared to the first release. Very well done Feral, thank you! :D

Two Worlds Epic Edition openworld action RPG now on Linux, uses Wine

We have to give credit to the developer that it was very responsive to the requests of the users during the beta period: we asked for CSMT and we got it, no DRM, etc. and we got it. Was a very right way to doing things.
I played the game for 34 hours without a problem (some crashes, but it was crashing also on Windows), then I got bored, because it is not a fantastic game. But there aren't similar games right now on Linux, so one more is ok.

The sequel, Two Worlds II, works also very well in WINE + CSMT, so I expect they'll do the same sort of port, which is IMHO a good thing if the results are so good.

Why games are so cheap? They are old games, the studio who developed them died, there aren't costs to support, seems so natural to me to sold them cheap.

Quoting: KeyrockMaybe it's Technomancer, the sequel to Mars: War Logs?

No, I asked the developer some days ago if they'll release the game for Linux and they told me that it's not planned but they are discussing it with their publisher.

I own this game because it was included in a Humble Bundle. Yes, it is hard, unforgiving, frustrating, but if you played and loved the 8-bit and 16-bit platformers you'll find at home. It contains lots of obscure puzzles, and you have to repeat the levels more and more times to figure out things.
All in all is interesting, but I stopped playing it because I got bored of all this hate versus the player: rage quit is beneath the corner with this game.
